| Ears Do Not Stand!.! Hello. I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I don't see where else it should be. Admin please take necessary steps to place this thread where it should be. Ok. This is the situation. After finding out by my vet and many helpful people on this site, Lola is completely healthy. My only concern is her ears. Her ears do not naturally stand. I know I can tape them so they so stand. I was wondering exactly how you do this. I know this is simple according to some people, but I have never done this. I just have heard about it. Please help. How do I do this? For how long? where do I put the tape? Do I need to cut any hair? etc? The more info the better. Thanks Eddy & Lola |

| When we got Gizmo he had a little strip of duck tape on the inside of his ears. She told us we could take it out in a few weeks. She said it was training his ears to stand up.

| I am having the same problem now . . . when I first got him both were down. Then eventually they both are up. These past 2 weeks though I noticed one ear flipping out . . what's up with that? I'd hate to tape the ears but he's looks a bit silly with his ear folded backwards . . . Of course, I still love my baby no matter what! |

| Hi. Thanks for the responses. I am going to tape her ears for a couple weeks or as long as it takes. It does train there ears to stay up and I actually tried the massaging technique. They stand halfway and then no further results were present. Going to try taping her ears! Wish me luck....Thanks again!!! |

| Hello. The only reason I did not want to shave the ears was because it would take so long to grow back. However, what are the pros, so to speak, by shaving the ears? does it make it more effective? show results quicker? etc. Thank You Eddy |

| Hi. How are you? Oh alright. So, you only shave from halfway of the ear to the top? Leaving the bottom half (base in other words) as is? And they were up the next day? Wow, what is the best way to apply the tape? Wrap around the ear? Tape the inside? Please be specific. Thanks for the help! |

| I definitely recommend shaving the ears! My baby's ears came up within days of doing this (he was around 4 months). I tried taping when he was younger but it never seemed to do much good. This is one grooming website about how to shave and tape the ears. http://www.yorkie.org/dogs/grooming_yorkies.html

And the shaving is only the top of the ear, like a 'V' shape. | |

| Hello. Alright Thank you very much! I will shave and clean her eyes. Then I will apply gauze and tape. Leave it in for a few days and then take it out. If they stand, I will leave them alone. If they don't, I will reapply the tape, until they do. Thanks. I will let you know how she makes out. She got big ears though. Thanks again to all! |

I completely agree with this. This was the only thing that I did for Wyatt and as you can see his ears are completely up. I didn't just shave the top 1/3 I shaved the whole ear inside and out. Good Luck.
