| Mac is absolutely adorable, and I agree, he looks very "Yorkie". You should hold off getting him groomed until he has all his vaccinations; you don't want to expose him to anything. You should ask the vet to trim his nails when you have him in for vaccinations. Or you can learn to do it yourself with the help of someone to hold him. You can just cut the sharp little tips, or you might even be able to file them.

| Does anyone have any advice as far as a good shampoo. I don't know if he is just greasy, but or what. He looks nice when brushed, but his hair starts to separate so quickly! I swear I brush him and he looks and starts separating in 5 minutes. He stays inside so I know he isn't getting into anything! |

| Congrats! I have a morkie too! He looks a lot like my Sammy did at that age. Sammy has Maltese ears. They are thinner than yorkie ears. Sammy is a year and his don't stand up. As for shampoo use whatever you use yourself.

| Hi, do not take out to a groomer until he has had ALL his shots. Shampoo, go to PetCo, Pet Smart or Pet Supplies, you can get a good quality shampoo, read labels, or, google puppy shampoo for oily hair, DO NOT use people shampoo, the PH in human vs canine is different, human shampoo can cause skin irritation. Dog shampoo the pH is designed specifically for dog hair and dog skin. Nail trimming, as MauiGirl suggested, you can clip just the TIPS, or if there is a vet visit due soon, the vet can clip no cost.

| Thank you all for the help with my questions. It gave me some good insite. I had already *attempted* filing his nails, but that was a gigantic fail as he can hardly sit still... especially when forced! I'll see what I can find about shampoo! And figure out how to handle this stringy hair thing he's got going on! |

| Mac is adorable. My daughter has a Morkie as well, and she looked just like Mac when little -- she doesn't look at all like a Yorkie now, however. Her hair color is totally different. My little Yorkie is 10 months old, Hermione. We welcome you. |

| Lilah, Thanks for tip about conditioning! I had no idea! And also for those grooming resources. We have his next shots scheduled for tomorrow and already asked for a nail trim :-). I do plan on taking him to a groomer, but I have little knowledge about what I should be asking for as far as cut. His hair doesn't seem to grow too quickly, so there won't be much to work with at first, but I do want to take him early like you recommended. And I have to say, I had always been fascinated by those who dressed their small dogs in clothing. But after I went online looking for just a simple sweater for winter... I NOW TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! My search turned into a Hoodie, Corduroy Coat, boots, & christmas outfit. :-) Hopefully I can get some great pictures! |
