Photoshop is a great program, and there is another awesome editing software by adobe called Lightroom. I love light room, because if I'm shooting on an overcast day or something, I can edit a whole batch at one time to correct things like this with Lightroom. It just has a lot more options than photoshop, if you want to get further into editing as you learn :-)

This is one of the pics I took of my daughter today. I am loving this new lens! I'm not ready for another new lens, but when I am I will look into the macro. I have the 70-200 already and love it for outdoor fun.

Yep, that's a 'prime' lens. I too have a 50mm / 1.8 and I love it! I also have a 30mm / 1.4 and it's a wonderful lens, a bit wider than the 50. Another prime I love is my 60mm macro...I don't use it as often but when I do, it takes just beautiful pictures.

(prime lens = one focal length, ie 50mm; whereas a zoom, you can change the focal length, ie like a 70-200 zoom lens)
