Yep, that's a 'prime' lens. I too have a 50mm / 1.8 and I love it! I also have a 30mm / 1.4 and it's a wonderful lens, a bit wider than the 50. Another prime I love is my 60mm macro...I don't use it as often but when I do, it takes just beautiful pictures.
(prime lens = one focal length, ie 50mm; whereas a zoom, you can change the focal length, ie like a 70-200 zoom lens)
