Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | 231 days of winter this season Yesterday's snowstorm in Anchorage broke the modern record (since 1954) for longest winter between the first measureable snowfall and the last -- 231 days! And it's not over yet. Still snowing out there. As much as we humans are grumbling, the Yorkies don't seem to notice. We had a real nice walk in about an inch of new wet snow at the park today.

| Thanks for the updates on your weather as we here down in the Southern Pacific or or the Bottom Half of the World, we will be into winter soon which is probably more like your summer months, or should that be " Hours ". We , Mum and I have enjoyed watching a TV program about the Ice Road Truckers who run between Fairbanks and the Oil Rigs up north, Deadhorse I think. So does your Yorkies enjoy the cold or due to been born up there, they are just use to it ? Excellent photo's of them playing in it too thanks.

And Whip, I have an antipodean Facebook friend from the Wellington, NZ, area who warms me up with pictures of her Yorkies in summer sunshine during our winters. In fact, she made the coat that Jillie's wearing in the pictures Mine both grew up in Alaska, so snow and cold much of the year is all they know. They LOVE summer, but they make the most out of winter. I think it's really a conditioning thing. If you introduce them to it gradually, they can learn to tolerate it. And a warm coat and booties make all the difference.

| I love your pictures. I have visited Alaska... but having lived in sunny Miami Florida for so many years I am not too sure if I would do well with the weather. BTW... I visited in the Summer ..

Yeah, people seem to either love Alaska or hate Alaska. Not much middle ground as far as residing here is concerned. But summers can make winters worth it!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks. Yeah, it's been a long time since I've allowed him to increase his pace, but I figured he was on some cushioning snow and could handle a short jog. It's so tempting to let him have more freedom, but the physical therapist wants me to keep his walks mellow and limited to 15 minutes. I was pushing it a little on the "mellow" part today, at least for this picture.

| Great pictures! Jillie looks like she's thinking about licking that post... it's not a metal one is it? They're both adorable as always.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Ha ha ha. Fortunately, no. Eddie taught her that lesson when he stuck his tongue to a metal pole
