A couple of tips for you on leaving her at home. Consider having a special toy she really likes that she only gets when you are away. That is one way to help.

Also, and this is the hard part. When you get ready to leave do not acknowledge her. Sometimes anxiety they express is actually from what they feel from us. It really makes a difference. I forgot myself one day and did the bye bye thing. He was barking even after I closed the door. When I just put him in his pen and get my stuff and don't say a thing he is in his bed quietly and just watches. When I return he is in the same spot. No he does not stay there all day lol. My girls get home before I do. My 16 year old is in a walking boot atm so basically his entertainment is left to my 12 year old. She just sits in his pen and plays with him. She told me that when he hears me unlock the door he goes and gets in his bed. I guess it's his way of saying "see mommy I've been a good boy all day long."

Thank you. She now has two harnesses. I purchased the collar first day, then read about the danger to the trachea in the Yorkie Care book I purchased so went out and bought the harnesses.

Thanks for the advice. She is currently being crated. In one week, she already recognizes that putting on my coat means I'm leaving. She starts whimpering and barking as soon as I put it on. I can hear her barking as I leave. I don't say anything to her before leaving, but she keeps an eye on me if I'm up and moving around. I bought a pen for her, but don't know if leaving her in the pen (36 X 36) would make it harder to housebreak her. I so new to all this. I just pray that she is not barking the entire time I'm gone. I live in an apartment complex and am a little worried that someone will complain if she is. I listen at the door when I come home and don't hear her, so maybe she gives up after a few minutes.

I would almost be willing to bet, after about a minute or 2 she stops. Guess you could always sometime "fake" going away and just stand outside your door to see how long it take for her to actually stop.

Of course your "mileage may vary" but I started Bentley off in a playpen with a pad in one spot. Playpen was always accessible when I was at home so he had a "designated" potty area while I was home or away. He took to it right away. He's now got a 2 section crate that has bed area and pee pad area, and I have now got fencing around the one end for him as a play yard. He's got 95% accuracy in just the few days he's been in the new setup while I'm away. 99% while I'm at home. The couple of accidents while we are at home I can easily attribute to me either not paying attention or "I'm so excited I need to pee now". At this point he's pee pad training.

Will work on outside when the weather is nice again, but since I live in an apartment I prefer his main potty to be pee pad. Beside on the couple of outside walks we have attempted he is not keen on the idea of being outside and on the ground. He loves outside but rather be carted around like the little prince he is. lol

Beautiful name for a gorfeous little girl! Absolutely precious....My concern was about the collar, but I see you have already addressed that issue! Two great books that I recommend to all my new owners are "Yorkies For Dummies" and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide"....they are great books and will be a much appreciated addition to your "Yorkie library". About her ears....I would shave the hair from the outside top of her ears....usually this is only done 1/3 of the way down...but at this age, I like to take it down to about 1/2 of the ear...this lightens the load on those ears and will allow them to stand easier. Also be aware, it is not unusual for these babies ears to go up and down as they teethe,,,,,just keep the hair off the ear and they should go right back up. As far as the hair on the inside of the ear, the groomer will sprinkle a little "drying" powder inside that allows them to grasp those hairs and pull them out...it doesnt hurt them at all...but like some have already said, some people allow this, orther do not like it. I like the hair removed from inside the ear if there is really alot in there...if there is just a little fine hair inside the ear, I wouldnt worry about it, but I have a couple that are really hairy and I dont like all that in there...dark, moist areas create issues!

Welcome to YorkieTalk! Your pup is adorable I would just trim the hair on the ears, you don't have to pull the hair inside... That won't help them stand up.
