| Trimming my little Kizsez's nails Hello....this is my first post and I really do need your help.... My little girl hates having her nails cut....I break into a sweat each time I have to do it b/c she fights hard so that I give up and don't do it at all....she is very, very smart. I think she must have been hurt at some point by some groomer. Can anyone give me some ideas on how to do it w/o hurting her? I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks everyone! |

| My vet clipped Cricket's nails for me. They showed me how to do it. They say when they are sleeping is the best time. Get your vet to show you how. |

| Gucci fights me all the time when i cut her nails. The first time the vet cut her nails and then show me. But she still fights me to death. Two weeks ago i cut one of her nails to short that she bled, i had to use the powder and put preasure to stop the bleeding. I was terrified so im going to see if the vet will cut her nails for now on. |

| Trimming Kizsez's nails Thanks for sharing above with me.....that happened to me too b/c Kizsez kept moving her little paw and she bled for ever so long even tho' I put the powder in her little nail....I, too, was terrified. I held her for hours b/c I felt so guilty. btw...this happened long after she became finickie about having her nails cut.

| May I suggest what I have done with my puppies and adults.... I lay them on their back and rub their paws regularly... so when I do cut their nails they think another little paw massage is coming, only cut the hook no shorter then you will never get bloodline. It has worked very well for me... The puppies are very easy to do they love the paw massages and the adults now know they have no choice

| Hopefully no one will gang up on me for this, BUT IT'S A YORKIE. lol I work in a grooming shop and ALL yorkies except for mine and one other that comes in screams and fights over their nails. The best thing you can do is from the DAY you get your puppy is play with it's feet and pads and nails so it'll be better. Your pup may have had it's nails clipped at one time by a groomer who didn't know what they were doing and made them bleed on every nail (I've had many customers come in with this horror story from other groomers). If it comes to the point that it's just too hard for you to hold your puppy and trim her nails, take her to a groomer you can trust (not PetCo or PetSmart people. I've heard too many bad things from there). A local groomer with lots of experience is your best bet. They usually only charge around $5 to have this done. If all else fails, see your vet and let them do it. Some yorkies will just fight it their whole lives. It's the attitude they have. It's in their blood. lol

| Sweetie hates getting her nails cut! The first few times, it was a nightmare. We can get it done now. . It's not fun, by putting her on my lap,on her back,I just cut the very tips off. Maybe you can just do one feet at a time,or one or two nails(I did). Good luck, and do play with the feet so she is not feet shy.

| I have a woman from petco cut Lexi's nails, trim her butt, and her under parts, pluck her ears, and trim the hair between her pads for $10 a month.
