Max Has Ears!!

Your posts always make me laugh. Maz looks adorable both ways. I can understand why you call him your basketball player because of his long legs. He is such a cutie!

His legs are long. I may have to call the breeder and see if he's mixed with a giraffe He is just about Cooper's size but their body shapes are so different.

I used to really want Rory's ears to stand, but now that I see how big they turned out, I'm glad they are floppy. When she runs, it looks like they are flapping in the breeze and she is about to take flight like Dumbo.

I don't know anything about gluing the ears. At this point I may or may not tape them again and just let whatever be, be.

He looks really adorable with either way, anyway! Here are the pictures of Beau and Blue's ears being glued. Beau had rose ear on his left ear & I wanted his ear to fold nicely. My friend suggested glue his ear to train it to fold nicely. I was hoping that the left ear would stay up but it did not & I am totally fine with it.


1. Blue's ears being glued
2. Beau's unique ears (he started to have rose ear after teething not pictured)
3. Beau's both ears being glued
4. His ear folds nicely. Right ear stayed up for like a month or so but it went down. Once in a while, it'll stand up. If you look closely, the glue wears off and there's no side effect on the ear flap.

Of course, it depends on each dog that the ear glue may or may not work. Just want to share my experience with you about the ear glue.

Wow Beau is something else! What kind of dog is he? What kind of glue is it? I can't see where on the dogs it is applied.

Thanks so much for sharing this information. I'm so dog ear theory at this point. One of my vets says it's hereditary and another says to tape them. People think that taping or gluing helps, but what if the ears were going to stand anyway? I suppose nobody would know. I tape Max's ears and they stand erect for a day.

I use to raise English Bulldogs. If you didn't want box ears, you had to fold, shape, and glue their ears to train them to hold them back...not up like Yorkies. It worked on my bulldogs, but took some of the hair off and was irritating to the skin.

I can't say I would recommend it for Yorkie ears, though.

I wish I knew what kind Beau is, just a poodle/terrier mix. The vet thinks he may have some Jack somewhere in his lineage.. I don't see that so go figure. ha
The glue was being applied on 1/3 top of the ear and fold vertically. I am not sure what kind of glue. Blue's former owner said skin bonding. I'll ask her and let you know later.
Ear thing is mystery, isn't it? At least you tried and won't have to wonder what if you should have...

Blue's dad's breeder who did the ear glue on Blue and his brothers. I was told that she's done that on her Yorkies with no problem. Blue and Beau had no problem with the glue. I guess that it all depends on each dog. You just clip the glue off and it comes off with ease. I would never take the glue off myself.

Yeah. I'm not sure I'm going to bother anymore. I'm not crazy about the idea of gluing his ears.

yes. he's 21 weeks and about 9.4 pounds. He's as tall as Cooper (who I've been told is tall) and he's really long.

Baxter is 13.3 and I love that big boy!! He is so much fun!!! Teapot Meetup! hehehe His ears are too cute. Brewsters ears never went up, but I didnt tape them. They just stayed floppy.

Max looks so different (and adorable!) with his ears up. But honestly, just knowing what you've posted about him, the ears down look is probably more his personality...he's too busy to hold his ears erect. He's beautiful either way, but Rocco and I happen to be partial to the floppy-eared look !
