| New YorkieTalk members here! Hello! I found this forum in search for all the Yorkie info I could find!! We have added a Yorkie baby to our family just yesterday!! He is so adorable and very loving!! I found him in a local ad and had great communication with the owner for almost a week, she told me that he would be ready to go to his new home this past weekend and in my excitement I didn't even bother to ask how old he was...ugggh....what was I thinking.....anyway, I had just assumed that he was at least 10 wks because everywhere that I had read and researched 10-12 wks is the best time to separate them from the litter. I drove 2 hours to get him, it was then I was informed that he was only SIX weeks old. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Yogi (that is my yorkie baby's name) but to be completely honest I have been so worried that Im not feeding him enough, giving him enough water, and so on. I probably have absolutely nothing to worry about but he is so tiny!! Any advice on raising a six week yorkie puppy would be greatly appreciated! I have attached pics of my precious tiny bundle of joy, Yogi!! We look forward to meeting you all!! Angie From, IN |

| Hi Angie, Welcome to YT you have come to the right place. Wow, he is young and so very cute. Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness with your new little furbaby. There are so many people on here that are so good with giving advice and things to do to keep them healthy and striving. I know you will get lots of help. Lexi was young too when we got her and I went through a lot of worries and still worry. I love reading everyone's post as they do help so much. I bought Lexi some Nutra-cal for puppies and that helped her a lot as she is not a great eater it seems to give her energy and she seems happy. Hope I helped a little....your little one is lucky to have you Hugs Cheryl & Lexi |

| Congrats!! As you already know, he is way too young to be away from his mom and littermates, but that is water under the bridge now...unless you take him back for a few more weeks. Get yourself some Nutrical and give it to him, especially at night. I would for now, get some good quality canned food so that he is eating. Give him many small meals throughout the day and night. It is very important that he eats...using the canned food, also will help so that he doesn't get dehydrated. Just keep a close eye on him to make sure his blood sugar doesn't drop. I brought my Myah home at 11 weeks, and the second night I almost lost her. I woke up in the morning and she was almost dead. I quickly got some Nurtical in her mouth and squirted some water in her mouth and got her to the vet. If I wouldn't have done that she would have been dead by the time we got her to the vet. She made it through that, and I have made sure that she eats at least 3 times a day. She is real tiny so I'm always looking for any signs of low blood sugar. I don't want to scare you...just keep an eye on him. I'm sure you'll do fine with him and others will give you more things that will help. Good luck and again Congratulations!!! |

| I was in the same boat as you. Just make sure you have some nutri-cal handy, and make sure he is getting enough to eat. When he is old enough, and has the shots necessary you will want to socialize him with a lot of people and animals as he will not have much socilaization as a puppy. This is a learbning experience and you will know enough information the next time you get one! Atleast that's the way I look at it
