| What's in a name?? Hi, I'm relatively new to this forum and I am HOOKED!! You all have a genuine love for dogs and I have learned so much. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post. What wonderful stories! I've been on here everyday since I found it. I have a 7 year old male schnauzer (Woody) and my 3 month old male yorkie, Bo. You can guess who rules the roost. I was just wondering...How did you decide what to name your yorkie? I'll start: we were all really undecided and my 11 year old son, after much deliberation, said "Turbo" and my 18 year old daughter said "Turbo Glenn" since Glenn is my husband and son's middle name (and Woody's as well ). Well, not wanting to introduce my little guy as Turbo for the rest of his illustrious life, in a moment of inspiration, I added "and we can call him Bo for short" and to my great relief my son concurred. So...may I introduce you to Turbo "Bo" Glenn. |

| Oh, and I forgot to add...I'm sure you can all relate, as I sit here watching Bo race around poor Woody at breakneck speed, I realize, "Turbo" fits!! TURBO POWER!!!!! |

| Hello and welcome to Yorkietalk. There are great people on here who sure love their Yorkie's and other pets too. we have Annabelle our 4 year old Schnauzer (all white) and her name came to us without any real special meaning to it other than it sounded pretty to us and girly. And we have our almost 9 month old Yorkie girl named Schatzie. Now her name has meaning and was researched long and hard. Let me tell you the story. Last spring we got Half-Pint, a 4 month old 1.2 pound little Yorkie girl. Sadly to say she passed away only having her a week due to complications from her vaccinations. We knew we wanted another Yorkie to love and then came Schatzie. Her name means Little Darling or Little Treasure in German. I researched for months to find the perfect name as I knew our next Yorkie after losing Half-Pint would be our "little treasure" to love. Half-Pint's name obviously came from her being so small... Glad you enjoy the site and we too love to hear everybody's stories, happy or sad ones and share insight. |

| Hi! Welcome to Yorkie talk! I love it here - everyone is so wonderful! As far as names - Sandy came with her name, and we kept it as we didn't want to confuse her The verdict is still out on what we'll name our new baby when we get him/her - but I have a webpage just for our name ideas on our puppy page - What can I say? I'm excited! (you can vote on what name you like best too: http://aimeecentral.com/puppy/names.html ) Bo and Woody sound adorable - post some pictures soon so we can all Ooo and Ahhh over them!

| Hi & welcome to yorkie talk! Bo is a cute name, so is Woody. My little guy is almost 5 months and his name is Hercules. On our way home from picking him up, we were thinking about what to name him. He was 2 pounds at the time and extremely tiny. We were truly stumped on what to name him. My boyfriend suggested Hercules and it was pretty much over after that. We both thought that would be a perfect name! Whenever we are out with him and people ask about him, they always laugh when they hear his name - he's a very little package with a huge name! And that's him all the way. So that's our story! Good idea for a thread, since everyone here loves to talk about their babies and hear more about everyone else's too! Brandi & Hercules |

| Oh thank you for your words on Half-Pint. She was soooo awesome, a little angel sent to give a message of love, a lesson to be learned about patience, trust, and openened up hearts to create a friendship with her breeder. I have never gotten over Half-Pint and I've stopped trying. She truly was an angel Yorkie, words could never describe what she had given me in such a short time. Her breeder and now a true friend of mine, created a short cd movie with music, poems, and almost a hundred pictures that were taken of Half-Pint between the two of us. Talk about a tear jerker! But it is so heart warming and amazing. A gift to me that is worth a million. It is so beautiful the precious lessons in life we learn from a very sad experience, I would never trade those memories of Half-Pint or give away what I have learned from a little dog ever in my life. I am so grateful to have known her and love her. I have never been affected by a dog as strongly as Half-Pint ever and feel blessed to have been kissed by an angel!! |

| That is so sweet - what a wonderful friend you have found I'm very sorry to hear about Half-Pint...losing furbabies is so hard. I still cry when I think about my childhood pets that passed on and my cat, Milo.

| Oh I hate losing pets. I lost a great dane a few years back -- Ella was the love of my life! Losing pets is so painful, but I think it helps us grow into better caregivers to the next pets that come along. Luca Dean = Latin, source of light + my Dad's name, Dean. That's my yorkie name story. We chose the name before we chose him, and it suits him well -- he has been a source of light and delight after a hard holiday season for us -- we had two ailing family members this year. We are given these wonderful pets to enjoy, to pamper, and to make our lives and theirs more comfortable. It's so tough having to lose them, and afterwards the best medicine sometimes is to care for another one. |

| Thanks, I'm glad you all like Hercules soo much. I'm sorry about Half Pint also. But at least you were able to develop such a good friend out of the breeder. And how sweet to get the memorial cd from her too! I'm very glad you have Schatzie now to bring you happiness and love!! Brandi & Hercules |

| Wow! Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone! I still am not leaning towards any one name - I really like them all My new baby will probably end up with 13 names because I am so indecisive!

| Hi Lucynfred, Luca Dean is a really cool name. I saw it on here and wondered where it came from. Great idea! Anyone else have an interesting backstory on their baby's name?? |
