| Hi Winston's Mom! Welcome to YorkieTalk. We're sorry you're experiencing such a tough time with Winston, but things can only get better. There are a lot of knowledgeable users here that can offer great advice. And of course, we all know you were joking about the bridge thing! Right, everyone? We understand your frustration all too well. Good luck! Junebug & Otis. |

| Your puppy is definitely not an idiot - he's a baby! He needs a crate big enough for him and a pee pad. You aren't allowing for his "mistakes" and his tiny bladder. I'd put him and a pee pad in the bathroom and keep him in there at night until he's paper trained and old enough to hold it all night, then move the papers outside. Also - get a good training book - I suggest something like "Little Dogs: training your pint-sized companion" by Deborah Wood. Best 10 bucks I ever spent. It's training me and her. |

| Let me say this really quickly...I would NEVER hurt an animal. I basically rescued this yorkie and paid hundreds of dollars to get him well. He was very sick when I got him and the owners treated him poorly. I thought by making a joke out of my frustrations with the new pup, was a pretty decent way to deal with it. Sorry if some of you didnt get it. I seriously doubt that anyone with a membership to yorkietalk.com would EVER hurt a Yorkie...please dont assume I would---OR MY BOYFRIEND. It was a JOKE! Ill try not to make one again for those of you who dont understand. |

The puppies ARE frustrating, no doubt. I remember when I first got Chewy, I just thought, Oh no, aaahhhhhhh. This dog is so tiny and i don't know what I got myself into and he's peeing on my rugs and in his crate, bla bla. Anyway, he's perfectly fine now.I guarantee with patience and consistent training you will see results with this dog. Just get a book and a box of little treats to help you and you will be fine. | |

| I said that Chewy because I got a private email telling me that I probably dont deserve to own a Yorkie because of the joke I made. Thanks for understanding. |

| Puppy Power I have a 16 week old little boy and he holds his pee pee through the night. I get up about 5:30 p.m. to let him out. But, there are times when he holds it a little longer especially if I over sleep. The broker I purchased him from trains her pups to be crate trained. He probably has had two or three accidents but, nothing to bad. When I brought him home the broker told me to put him a small area that way he won't move to much at night and to limit his water and food. I usually take his food and water away around 7 pm and he goes to bed around 9 - 9:30 pm. I run him around about 8:30pm just to let him exercise his legs alittle but usually we walk around the house exploring unknown territories. Like the other comments it takes a lot of time and support on our ends to teach them the right way. I've noticed that Yorkies need alot of love and they usually pick up on things really quickly if your consistant. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on his progress. | There is a rule against this kind of behaviour here. Forward that email to admin and he will take the appropriate action. |

| Maybe your Winston is wants to be out of the crate and sleeps with you. My Winston sleeps with us and rarely gets off the bed during the night. Yorkies are so smart. Be patient with him. |

| It will get better. I would limit his food and water at night.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I have a feeling that the comment ..even though it was a joke... may have been taken seriously - I LOVE to joke....but you can see MY post - I wasn't sure myself...I hope you can understand that - We just love dogs - ALL dogs....we all care about yorkies and our friends - to hear an off the cuff comment from someone who just signed up was a little scary - Winstons mom - We are not arrogant or mean ....The person who pm'd you was probably feeling VERY protective of your yorkie - sometimes things just get taken the wrong way - and I'm sure everything will be fine...give it another chance and you'll see everyone is very nice here ... |

![]() I went through a training programme with the oldest and she was top star of the class. As soon as we were home, she would do exactly as she wanted to. We have worked out an order here - I have done an immense number of leadership exercises with her and there is no doubt that I am the leader....most of the time....and often, that is how far you can get the yorkie. Remember you didn't buy a drivveling poodle who will do anything to please you, no, you got yourself a REAL intelligent dog, who has a personality and will of his own ![]() And welcome to YT! (Your humor is very Danish, so I thought the bridge-thing was incredibly funny as I visualized it. I know you wouldn't do that!)

| I wasn't worried about Winston's mom - but BOYFRIENDS?? Ha, Ha. Okay - that was a joke too. I know it gets frustrating. Really and truly, it's just like having babies - first you cry a lot because you don't know what you are doing, etc., then the next thing you know you are laughing because they got it and it was worth it. Best of luck. |
