| Monster Puppy ! Where is my chunk of pup hiding all this weight!! I took Buddy to the vets today to pick up some frontline and while i was there thought i'd let them cut his nails for me, total disaster cos we saw a different vet to usual and she was HORRIBLE! but ive been ranting about her since i got home so i wont inflict more ranting on everyone! Anyway what i was really shocked about was .... Buddys weight ... he was 8lb 6oz !!!!! or 3.90kg OMG he's not 5 months yet!!! but he doesnt look that big, i dont understand where he's hiding all that weight lol Anyway we looked up breed standard and have had such a laugh.... Buddy is failing on virtually all of it .... long tail, wavy fur, too heavy, floppy ears, bite is not quite inline, small white patch on chest, the list goes on. But... apart from those few 'minor points' he's absolutey perfect and the best birthday present i ever, ever had Isnt it great our dogs cant go online when we r out and look up 'human breed standard' my list of 'faults' would be endless!

Did you suspect that he would be a big boy? Our Sully is full grown now, at 9lbs! I don't know where he hides the weight either b/c he's skinny and short...I think it's because he's long. I think Yorkies are "supposed to" be as long as they are high (or something like that). Sully was my bday present too, my 23rd and I couldn't ask for a better dog, ever!

| ha ha! If Tucker gets his hands on the human standard, he'll throw us all out! He is going to be big, too. He is only 14 weeks and he's over 4 pounds. I love his floppy ears, and live in fear that they will suddenly stand up although I doubt it! But they are so big he looks like a bat when he lays on his back and they flop up. He may not look like all of the other yorkies when he gets big but I love him just the way he is!

| His dad is 11lb his mum 7lb, I wanted him to be a bigger pup cos ive got 2 children so he needed to withstand a 'busy' home. I cant imagine how small these teeny yorkies must look when only 3lb ish when adult, Buddy still looks small to me. To be honest i love the bigger look, more to cuddle! lol As for floppy ears.... i'm gonna tape em back down if they ever stood up lol I think what a yorkie lacks in size they make up for in character. I read in a yorkie book, that they must never feel like they are the centre of your whole world.....OOPS lol

| LOL, luved how you explained his "non-standard" ways! I have this too, Bailey is 12 pounds,,, but since his " puppy cut" I say he's back to 9 pounds now! ha When he passed 7 pounds on the scale at about 9 months,, I said " So much for his SHOW DAYS" ha.. He also has a white patch on chest and a little on his chin. But like you,,,, WHO CARES! He doesn't and neither do I~~~~

| Wow, 8 lbs is pretty big for not even 5 months. But Deegan is 3.5lbs at 12 weeks, and I've been told that he's going to be a bigger guy. I hope he slows down aound 5 or 6lbs, but who knows what will happen.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You so have the right attitude - they IS more to love - I have 2 different sizes and while I hold Cheri delicately - I can hoist Chanel around like a football and she loves it.....We never really know what they'll look like grown but by then - we just don't care cause we're so infatuated with them. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I know exactly how you feel...Sailor is short and and not very long but somewhere she puts almost 6.5lbs...it is incredible, you would not know it looking at her, but when you pick her up she is handful!!! But she sure is strong, it must be muscle, you know what they say, muscle ways more than fat!!!
