| I don't know anything about breeding, but I thought I read somewhere that the female should be over 5lbs. to breed??? But I live on the Motto "Better Safe than Sorry". Misty is so adorable...it looks like she is smiling in your avatar! Good luck! |

| I have read alot about breeding and I have read on many sites that you should not breed a female under 5lbs. I had a 3 lb female for a little over 13 yrs, and my vet told me if I choose to breed her that I would have to find a new vet that he finds it cruel to breed these tiny dogs...

| I agree w/ everyone. I'm not a breeder and don't ever plan on being one (because I'd keep all the puppies myself!!) but I would think 3 or 4 lbs is way too small. 5 lbs and up is much more safe.

| Too Small At three pounds your little gal is too small. People do breed them that small- how I do not know. I offer stud service and I refuse to breed females that are under 4 1/2 pounds that clients own. My own stock that I use for breeding is 5 pounds. It is unsafe for the health of your little girl. IMO it just is not right to endager the life of your gal. Some folks will give you the song and dance that you will be ok if you use a very small male. They are very wrong and can not give you a gaurantee that your female will survive the pregnancy and birth of any puppies. Wnalegria |
