Hi meet RBI aka. CUJO Hi fellow proud Yorkie parents. I would like you all to meet RBI (ribby) he is 10 weeks old today. I call him RBI because my sons are little baseball fans and I have not figured out a name for him, terrible I know. I go from cute little cuddly names to CUJO because he bites and it hurts. I took him for his 2nd series of vacinations and he was 0.7 pounds. His parents were tiny but this little guy eats like there is no tomorrow. I am curious to know when I can expect him to be NICE? He looks so sweet and then out of nowhere he will lunge for my lip. OUCH! I have been reading and being a silent onlooker for two weeks now and thought it was time to introduce myself and my little monster. By the way as if all the toys I have bought for him were not enough he helped himself to a healthy helping of my baseboards, remote control, bedskirt and tennis shoes. All this being said I LOVE MY BABY!! Kelly

toby is about 16 weeks and he gets very bitey and becomes a little monster when he is in "play mode" ...... they just get so caught up in waht they are doing (playing usually) that they dont realize that what they are doign hurts...... lol.......toby actually responds to "ouch" when he bites to hard (he will give you a nice kiss to make it better...... and then go back to nipping again)..... one thing you need to do is teach him who is boss, if he does this then walk away and ignore him...... this will teach him that when he bites it is no fun for anyone and eventually he will stop doing it.... Currently i am having the problem because my fiance plays with him like that and lets him bite and nip, but not me, he knows i am boss and is USUALLY very well mannered (unless he FORGETS who he is actually playing with).... Consistancy and patience is the key

Kelly, RBI is adorable! I love his name! Max's official name is Peyton Maxim Vandolay, because my dh is a Peyton Manning obsessed man! LOL Our 1st dog was named Keady, after Purdue's basketball coach...so I wouldn't know what to do if my dog didn't have a sports-referenced name. Max is 10 weeks, too, and loving my 3 yr old's toes right now! We keep giving him a stern NO and a toy to bite instead. Eventually, it will sink in...just like with kids. LOL

Welcome to YorkieTalk, Kelly and RBI! You've gotten some good advice on the biting.....now it just takes patience......the little monster will get it sooner or later and be on to doing other little monster things......As my husband says to our Higgins "It's a good thing you're cute!" LOL

Hi and welcome! RBI is a cutie!! It seems to me like the biting is part of playing and teething. I've also read that when they are puppies and with the rest of their litter, if they play too rough and they bite their brother or sister too hard, the brother or sister will yelp and of course not play with them for a little bit. So like orinskye said, by saying "ouch" you will let him know that you did not like what he did. Maybe follow it up by not playing with him for a few minutes. Walk away or something like that. I've done that a few times. Sometimes he starts biting back again and sometimes he doesn't. It's all about training them to be good little doggies! By the way, my name is Brandi and my little Hercules is 4 months.

Welcome to Yorkie Talk. RBI is just to cute. It's hard to believe something that little can get into so much. I have a one year old yorkie terrorist, Rudy. Like Higgin's mom said it's a good thing he is so cute. He keeps Maddie (yorkie), who will be two in Feb, and Lucky (chow-mix), who is 15 wondering what will he do next.......................Cindy

WELCOME!! RBI is a cutie and yes human flesh is highly desirable to their diet when young!! Even now Gizzie (nearly 6 months) gets a bit rough with the teeth especially my FEET which for some reason she doesn't associate aas belonging to me!! OUCH!! Whe she's nice, I call her "Kissy Gizzie," then there's an inbetween "Nibbly Gizzie" then there's "Bitey Gizzie" or "Jaws" - these names are said in different ways to her and she picks up on the tone of my voice and modifies her behaviour!! At first when she bit I used to use the method of holding her by the scruff, firmly and growling - this is what the mother dog may do!! LOL Well it worked and as Bettye said, as they mature they become more gentle but DO need guidance!! He must give you loads of pleasure mixed with the pain LOL!!!

thanks for the hope Thanks to all of you who shed some hope on my little guy. I was seriously beginning to think RBI was just a meanie but was sure glad to hear that I am not the only one with a tiny savage beast. It is amazing to me that I am so in love with this tiny furball already. I find myself finding reasons to go to the store to buy a new "toy" for him or searching for tiny shirts. I will say my children are a little jelous. Ok one more question and nobody laugh...I keep looking at all the cute pictures of the adorable pups with their bows how in the heck do you get them in their hair??? Short of super glue...well everyone have a great day. Watch those fingers and toes!

Awwww!! Don't feel bad about the naming issue.... my baby turned 15 weeks yesterday and I still haven't found the right name! We just call him "Sweet Pea" and "Puppy". The men of the house say he's pure evil and want to name him "Black Death" and "Cerabus", but I'll have none of it! And he looks just like my puppy! Oh-- and Orinskye-- LOL My puppy is a rotten little s**t and he bites non-stop sometimes, so we he gets in a real good one (usually my nose), I'll grab him and bite his ear. LOL Not hard, but enough to put him in his place. My puppy thinks people like being eaten instead of having kisses, so whenever he missed me, (went in the other room for 30 seconds) he'll jump around and bite me. Don't they look alike?? None of these pictures quite show it as well as I would like, but he's one of the few puppies I've seen that looks like mine. Congrats, adn I wish you luck on finding a name!
