Meet Rosie! Hi my name is Cindy and I'm new here. Just got my first yorkie a few days ago. She's 7 mths old and such a darling! I don't know much about yorkies but whats the difference between the ones with ears that stand up straight and the ones that don't? Glad to be here and hope

Cindy, welcome to yorkietalk. Rosie is a cutie. The only difference between a yorkie whose ears stand and one whose don't is whether or not the breeder or owner worked on keeping them up. If Rosie has alot of hair on her ears it could be weighing them down. I would have her hair on her ears shaved and if that doesn't make a difference then you can do many things to get them to stand. 7 months old is still young so if you wanted to get them standing you probably could. Alot of people prefer the ears down. It is all about preference. This site has a lot of good info. Scroll down there is a question about the ears. http://www.shooterdog.com/alexfaq2.htm#EARS Keep posting pics we love em. Camille and Cecilia

Hi Rosie! Yes, you can tape up her ears and try to get them to stay up on their own that way, some Yorkies never had to be taped for it to stand up on their own. Just gotta shave their ears tho, as heavy hair on the ears will make them flop down.

my little guy has his ears down too, and call me crazy, but that was actually what i was LOOKING FOR when i went on my yorkie hunt i really wanted one with the ears down, i had a choice of two yorkies, one was smaller with the ears up (more expensive) and the other was larger and had his ears down (the guy gave me a "deal" on him because he will be about 7-8 lbs and his ears wouldnt stand up) needless to say i snatched up the one that was cheaper because A) i wanted a larger yorkie and B) the ears were down I have found that his ears are VERY expressive, he can even make them stand up once in a while if he tilts his head right..... welcome to yorkie talk, tell us more abotu rosie, how much does she weigh? what is her personality like?

Thanks to all! Thanks to all for responding! Rosie is a little darling --follows me all over the house and loves to play. I actually prefer to see the ears down --and I intend to get another Yorkie and was just wondering if the ones with the ears down have a different name or something --i thought maybe the ones with the ears down are the smaller breed ( the 3 pounders). Rosie weighs 7 lbs and has her AKC papers etc. Thanks once again to all for responding and I'm glad to be apart of this group!! Cindy

If you like the floppy ears just don't shave them and the hair will weigh them down most of the time. | |

Welcome to Yorkie Talk the first thing I have learned about is Yorkies ears if you want them to stand then keep them shaved that is the only thing that help my Little ones the next is be careful when you buy a Yorkies alot of Breeder are selling Yorkie Poos they look just like Yorkies but they have curley hair and their ears do not stand up. And these Breeders are selling Yorkie Poos for the same price has a Yorkie so watch out.And again WELCOME to Yorkie Talk Kristi
