| So this means Silky, right????? Our digital died some time ago, (and downloading the pics from my phone is WAY beyond my technical ability) so we went and got a new camera today. Here is the first shot I got before the battery died. Green eyes. Silky? Like I care! As long as he stays this sweet he "could look like an elephant for all I care!" (Someone said that on another thread and I totally got it! LOL) Now, have I correctly attached the picture?

| Cute pic. But I missed something. So if their eyes are green in photos they are really a silky? HUh? Someone needs to explain to me.... And what is the difference between silky and yorkie? Or is it a type of yorkie? I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I really would like to know.

| They are discribing their coat.....silky or cottony, I believe green eyes in photos (from flash)....mean silky coat and red eyes mean cottony coat

| Now I know! Cottony would be what Twinkle is then. Her eyes show a red relection in photos that I have of her. Her coat is very thin on her body but just floats in the wind. I wonder is there a difference in the coat quality of the two types? Or is Twinkle's thin coat due to her being a runt of the normal sized litter my sister in law had? Twinkle's 3 lbs. The rest including her parents are more on the 6 lb range with thick coats and stocky buil. Twinkle more resembles the body shape of a chihuahua. She is very slender and petite boned. She is registered and a pure bred. Just maybe what the runts turn out like? I use the term "runt" with much affection...they are not desireable to be bred intentionaaly to turn out like this for the health problems that can arise. She was an exception in a normal littter. I paid nothing for her though I hear dogs like her sell for astronomical amounts. That was something my sister in law would not do especially with Twinkle's history of hypoglycemia and being anxious. I was given the precious gift of her care by my sister in law who is a wonderful animal cartaker and is certianly not interested in the money. She flys her other breeds of dogs to the Netherlands personally. Anyone have one of these frail sized versions of Yorkies? Ever had to deal with hypoglycemia? I deal with patients in the hospital all the time but I imagine this is a little different! |

A Silky is a different breed than a yorkie but very similar in coat & looks - they're generally bigger and stouter with a different look than a yorkie - Many people can't tell the difference - I seen to see lots of differences when I look at yorkie vs silky - yorkies are more delicate featured than a silky but they're BOTH great breeds... | |

| I have to say I never heard before that if a yorkie has green eyes in a photo he has got silky coat. But I thought about and I think it has nothing to do with the texture, but very often cottony yorkies are black and silky one´s are always blue( I mean the real silk, there are very much varieties of course which are very similar to that type of coat, but the real, heavy silk is always blue!). So black hair has another pigmentation than blue hair and that could be the reason why green eyes always belong to silky one´s and red to cottony. I really think it´s a question of pigmentation, because not only the pigments on body are different, but all over the body including the eyes. |
