After the first 2 weeks Hot Rod seemed to take a turn for better and he looked better. The only problem was that he wanted to move around a bit. I did let him try and walk a few steps here and there. He was crated at night, which he had not been since he was 16 weeks old-he was 1 1/2 at the time of his surgery. After a while, hubby would let him walk a little on his potty breaks and actually let him walk around the yard. I told him to be care as the uneveness of the ground could do harm. It got a bit harder as the weeks went by because Hot Rod was wanting to move around and we have a 2nd yorkie that wanted missed her brother. All in all, I am glad that we did the surgery but it was hard. I was so stressed before the surgery and called several times the night of surgery. Once we were able to pick him up, I felt sooooo much better and so did Hot Rod. He pretty much lept out of the tech's arms to me. The doctor spoke with us prior to bringing him out and that was good because once I had him in my arms I didn't hear a word. lol I was glad that hubby was there because did the listen after that. lol Have you seen an orthopedic vet? I would highly suggest speaking with a board certified ortho vet that is well versed in small dogs. What grade is your little one's lp? Is he/she in pain? Hot Rod's was at a grade 3. He was in some pain as his tendon was on the side of his leg and he wasn't wanting to walk. He would sit down when I tried to take him out. His little leg was bowed outwards. Feel free to private message me. I certainly understand your anxiety. Best of luck.

| Thank you so much . yes we had an oorthopod for my baby. She is home now and I am carrying her everywhere, but that's okay. I think I got very lucky with her surgon he is ranked one of the best in the country. She is eating and drinking so that is a good sign I think . She never complained even when she couldn't walk on her leg . But I was told to keep her confined in a small place which I have done and will continue to do . Thank you so much for yu advice. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pixie had her Lp surgery in June. The recovery was hard but what I did is I set up different areas for her so she wouldn't get bored. I bought a small pet (rabbit, etc) xpen at petsmart and took it with me when I was in different rooms and out her in it so she wasn't isolated. I even out it on my bed so she could be on my bed but safely confined. Then I had a playyard that I put her in at night right next to my bed. After a week I was able to but her sister Roxie with her and that really helped. Pixie won't walk on a leash so I would let her walk around the house a few times a day. The surgeon sent home written detailed instructions which was good Like Mom to Hot Rod said you don't hear much of what they are saying when you go get them. As the weeks went by it was harder as my other 3 wanted to see her when she was out so I had to be real careful. I am so glad your baby is home and on the road to recovery. Keep us posted of her progress.
