| ![]() Oh my goodness!! What a tragedy! I can't believe the dog came into your home!!! I am so sad and sorry for you! How heart wrenching and awful and violating. Not to mention you have a baby coming and it could have been him or her just as easily with that kind of horrifying irresponsible pet management of your neighbors! I hope you receive appropriate reparations, I am so sorry.

| ![]() Just got off the phone with the Animal Control Officer again, the pit was ruled a "Dangerous" dog is no longer allowed in the town of Norwood(where I live). But in order to spare his life they are letting the neighbors sister adopt the dog. She lives in NY. They are to pick up the dog today and drive it immediately to NY. The neighbors have been notified if the dog is seen or heard in Norwood it will be euthanized immediately. He instructed me to call him immediately if we suspect he is here, even just for a visit. I have to admit I am kind of disappointed by this ruling, Yes I will be safe, but what about the people and dogs in NY? Why is it that he is dangerous here, but not dangerous there? Not sure if there is anymore I can do ![]()

| ![]() If you know the city it is going to you should call animal control there and let them know what is coming their way. |

| ![]() So when the animal control officer delivered the ruling, he seemed very upset himself about the outcome. In the paperwork he presented me with was the address of the new residence of "Frank" the pit bull. So I took it upon myself (thanks to the advice of you all on here) to call the animal control of Clifton Park, NY and explained the situation, what happened and the outcome. The officer was appalled! She could not believe the town of Norwood would just knowingly let a dangerous dog be rehomed as if it was "not there problem" anymore. She had me fax her a copy of the police report, the letter from the town manager, a copy of what was said at the hearing, and the letter from our neighbors. And she is going to contact the town of Norwood and Norwood's animal control officer. She did not seem happy. So I do not know what is going to happen now, but at least I did my part to warn the citizens/animal control of the town where this vicious pit will now reside. Thanks again for all the support and advice, it is very much appreciated!

When I lost my first yorkie to an attack by a neighbor's dog they stepped up and paid for the vet bill and the cost of a new dog. Yorkies are expensive and I knew I would want another on. I wound up getting about $1000.00 towards a new dog, the first year of required vet expenses and the cost of neutering. Plus vet bills from when my dog was attacked. These people owned their home and their home owners insurance covered it. Their insurance agent happened to be a neighbor who I was sort of friendly with, he was very sensitive to the situation so he was our go between and I did not have to deal with the owner of the dog that killed my Reggie. If someone in their house broke or damaged something of yours you would have recourse, so a pet is no different. I know it is hard to think of Lola as your property but in the eyes of the law that is what are pets are. So your neighbors destroyed valuable property and should have to reimburse you for for the vet bills and at least the cost of a new pup and the first year vet bills. If you own your home or have renters insurance what I might do is start by talking to my insurance agent and find out what normal policies cover in this type of situation. Most policies are fairly similar. Then I would talk to a few lawyers, most offer a free consultation. Or do you know any lawyers, I think I posted something earlier in the thread. But before approaching them do your homework and find out all your rights. This way you will be conversing from a position of strength and knowledge. Small claims court is an option and you do not need an attorney but the max payout is not that high. So you might want to try other options first. I don't mean to seem cold and no amount of money will bring your sweet girl back, but I guess I am very angry that you had this happen to you, and to me I like to turn anger into action and I know how costly the first year of owning a dog is expensive and now if you want a new one you have to take on costs that you should not have had to do. I keep thinking about you & your sweet pup and how you so did not deserve this and then you cowardly neighbors that are hiding in their house and not trying to help you at all, one can't help but feel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
