Default I am just getting worse and worse-please give me some advice

They say time heals all wounds. Wrong. On Sunday, Oct 30th, will mark 4 months that Lacey got put to sleep. There is not a single day that I don't go into a crying fit. I did not want to see her suffer. But, still wonder if she is mad at my mom for putting her to sleep? I loved Lacey to death. It was like she was my baby, my child. I don't have any kids yet. 13 years and you just get so attached. I wish dogs could live as long as people. My 13 years with Lacey seemed so short. I wish there was something I could of did. Why did she have to get kidney failure? I just wish she did not get sick.

I have been looking everywhere for a yorkie female puppy. No puppy will ever replace my Lacey. But, I feel that once I get a new yorkie pup, the wound may heal some. Because I will have another one to love, spoil and take care of. I am not having any luck at all. It feels like having the greatest Christmas gift of all ( my yorkie pup) is fading. I have been looking everywhere around my area. I live an hour southwest of New Orleans. A very small town just north of Houma. There are no breeders around here. And my mom won't even consider getting one out of state or driving out of town to go get one. It has to be somewhere in the Houma/Thibodaux area. I have been checking our classified everyday. Nothing. I went to the vets where we took Lacey asking around. She gave me this lady's phone number that breeds yorkies in Houma. I tried calling, operator said the line is down. So, wrote her a letter and gave our number. A week later and no response. I gave my number to Petsmart to see if they know anybody. Nothing. Placed an ad online over 2 weeks ago. Still no reponse. And I don't want to get one from a pet store because of all the horrible things I heard of about puppy mills. And they are very expensive. My mom says she does not want to go over $550. But, we may be able to come up with $650, if I pitch in some. I don't know where else to turn. Been searching the last couple of months and does not seem like I will have a Yorkie puppy in time for Christmas. Or anytime at all in the near future. Comments welcome.

as the saying goes time is a good healer, it takes time your intitlled to still feel sad she was a family member and it shows how much you loved her.
i agree if you get another yorkie pup it will help with the healing

You might check with the rescue people in La. It wouldn't be a puppy but alot of
Yorkies were misplaced during the storm and maybe they could tell you who to
contact. Ask for e-mail addresses if possible to get basic info and then you
could call if it sounds good.

God I feel so sad for you I have lost two of my babies trough the years and it would help very much to get another one and it is not to replace... to carry on I had to force myself to get another one just for the therapy to heal from a broken heart, it would really help your pain of missing her by remembering her in another.. take care

Time does heal all wounds. I had a dog get hit by a car. It crushed her spine. I was devastated. I cried at least once a day for the first month, then once a week, and so on. After about 6 months without a dog I ran out and bought another one, He never replaced the dog I lost and the new dog turned out to be the wrong thing for me. But in the long run I did get over all the crying. You do get over it, you just never forget, I'm sure Lacey had a good life with you and you probably spent a lot of great times togther, these are things that you will never forget. Memories you will have a life time.
Be patient, and the right dog will come along.
Christmas is still 2 months away, maybe your new puppy isn't even born yet!

I feel so bad for you! It will get easier to remember Laci without the tears. It definately helps to get another one to give your love to. I lasted 1 week when my other Yorkie passed away and then I got another one. They all have special placeas in your heart. I hope you find one soon. Keep checking the newspapers and breeders in your area.

Everyone is right. Time is the only thing that will heal that wound in your heart and soul. In six months it will be easier, but you won't be over her for much longer than that. It is true that a new puppy will help fill your heart and your arms. It will help to see new toys around again. It will help to keep you busy, because that is what a new puppy does - it keeps you very busy! I don't know what to tell you about not being able to go further to get a new puppy. How about logging onto NOLA.com and telling people there that you are looking for a new puppy and see if anyone responds there? Lots of people read that site.

Had a dream about Lacey 2 nights in a row. In the dream the night before, 3 yorkie puppies mysteriously appeared in my front yard. All 3 looked exactly like Lacey. So, I took the puppies and loved and cared for them.

In the dream I just had last night, it was just Lacey. I was holding her and saying that I was sorry she got sick. And I loved her and never wanted her to hurt again. And I just kept petting her and petting her and not wanting to let her go. And she kept giving me doggie kisses over and over. Trying to make me feel that she was okay and that she loved me too. Maybe the dream was a message from Lacey and that she okay. And was doing fine because she is no longer in pain.

I thought about her a lot the last few days. And kept going over her pictures from Halloween a few years back. When she was a clown. She was soo adorable. I regret not buying a digital camera sooner. So, now I don't have any pictures of her at all on the computer. So, none of ya'll will ever get to see what she looked like.

Christmas is a month and half away and still no luck finding a yorkie puppy yet. I have been checking the classifieds every day and not a thing in my area still. I am a little upset because I wrote this lady in Houma that breeds yorkies. Our vet that took care of Lacey when she was sick, gave us her number. But, for some reason, her phone line was messed up and I could never get through. So, I wrote her a letter and gave her our phone number. She never responded at all. No phone call or anything. And that was way over a week ago. I know she might be just really busy. But, she could just give us a 5 minute phone call to let us know either way whether she got any puppies or not. Instead of leaving us hanging.

Don't worry, I am not having any luck finding a new yorkie puppy either. There seems to be nothing right now in my local area. But, you can now see pictures of my Lacey. I found out a way to post them. I took my digital camera and just took pictures over my old pictures. They were just regular photos that I stuck in an album or on the fridge. Just go to the photo gallery at the top of the main page. And click members photos under cajungal. One is Lacey as a clown and the other is one when she only a year old.

Love I want to help you!

I know how it feels to loose something that you love. I know what it's like to have dreams about your loved one. I have been through the same thing, except I did not have to put mine to sleep, someone stole him right out of my yard right in front of me.
When the hurricane hit there were many yorkies misplaced from there owners. They have been placed at shelters all over the south. I know that this sounds like a lot of work. But if you think about it, there is a little female yorkie out there that is just as lonely and sad as you are. I think you will be much happier knowing that you were helping out the little girl as much as she was helping you. She is out there just waiting for you. A good thing to do would be to call your local shelters to start. Then if you have no luck there go to google and look up yorkie adoptions, that should pull up lots of links.
I want to do whatever I can to help you. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do from here. Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers!

My mom and I already tried that too. There were no yorkies. They did have some puppy mill rescue yorkies. As much as I want to help those yorkies, it was too sad for me to look at. I would cry everytime I see their photos or hear their horrifying story. We would not be able to keep up with their medical bills financially. We of course, took Lacey to the vet for her shots and her heart guard once a month. We were always very up to date with that. But, Lacey rarely got sick. But, when she got kidney failure, we had to take her to the vet to get a fluid shot every other day. $16 for 3 times a week. It got very expensive, but we did whatever it took to keep her alive. Until it got to the point, where not even the fluid was helping. So, that is why my mom had to put her to sleep. She would not eat and was too weak to even get out her bed.

I put a local internet ad out. And this lady just contacted me from Houma. (Houma is only a 15 minute drive from here.) She is going to be breeding her yorkies soon. The only thing is that her prices for females is $900! I can't afford that. I can only afford $650 at the most. And even that is beyond what we can afford, but I really want one more than anything. Maybe I can try to talk her down on the price. It is worth a shot. But, we really wanted on in time for Christmas. Christmas is going to be sad enough without my Lacey. And even if her dog got pregnant right away, it would be 2 months before she gave birth. And another 2 months before the puppies can go home. So, we are looking at March if we went with her. We will keep checking ads of our local paper, but no luck so far.

If you want to see pictures of Lacey, I now have them on the photo gallery on the main page. It is under members galleries.

Default I Like the one you just mentioned

Maybe this is just me but I went through the same thing you did and I
think this little one that you mentioned above , that could go home about April (12 wks to leave mom is the
best) would give you time to grieve the loss and be able to accept another
without feeling guilt and not comparing. The time to get over the loss of
the first is really important (of course she will always be in your heart) I bet
she would come down some on the price and this would also give you time
to save.

Default I agree

I am sorry to hear about that.. I agree with you, the best option seems to be the lady who is breading close to where you live. I know it seems like a lot of money. Maybe she would negociate with you on the price. I think that having to wait longer will only make you appreciate her more. Even if you do have to pay that much more, you just have more time to save up. And if you want her bad enough, you can save up. That is how I got Gizmo, I started putting back my money a little at a time, before I knew it, I was done. Good Luck! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.
