| Anyone here from N. Central Wisconsin? Hi all, We live in Stevens Point, WI. Have a 2 yr old male CKC registered Yorkie. He is CKC because his breeder did not register his Mom before she was over a year. He is actually AKC on both sides. Working with the new program AKC has started to trace ancestry and re register dogs with documented AKC ancestry. I see a few "real" Yorkies around here, but there are tons of the designer breeds ( mostly Yorkie / somethings". Would love to stud Onegus. He is right on for AKC standard for the breed and has the sweetest temperment ever. Would also like to find a young female Yorkie ( just over a yr) to purchase so we can breed our own. Thought of getting a puppy, but since he is already 2, and raring to go, that would mean about 2 years of guarding her before she was mature enough, and he would be 4 by that time. |

| Good luck, my breeder is in the Kenosha County area. Her name is Kim, that's about 4-5 hours south of you though. Last edited by SHANDALEER; 01-15-2010 at 12:12 PM. |

| Theres alot of good information over in the Breeder section. I only hope you do your homework before considering such an endeavor. Goodluck!

| Thank you for your concern. I worked for a Yorkie Breeder / groomer for 4 years during high school so I am well aquainted with the process. I would like to asure you that I am not wanting to do this for the money, but strictly for the love of the breed and the desire to breed quality yorkies, not quantity, or "designer teacups". I have also been reading everything I can get my hands on for years, ( I have read the breeder section until I have almost worn it out, lol) talking to our vet and and have several friends who are breeders of other breeds. I waited years until I found our little guy who has all of the qualities I love best about the breed, physically, temperment and intelligence. Unless I find a female that represents those same qualities, I will not breed. I have been aproached several times already by people we have met out and about or at events wanting him for stud, but their females were under 4# and that is something I just won't do. Even at 5 - 7 # there are risks for the female and the pups, even under the best of circumstances. I love the breed too much to risk killing one out of someone's desire to have "teacup" yorkies, or greed. We have already decided that if we do find a female that meets our requirements, any females in the litter will not leave until they are at least 3 mo and their adult weight can be estimated. Should they look like they will be under 5#, they will be spayed before they leave us. My poor husband has nighmares of me not parting with any babies and being over run by furbies. Could happen, lol. The breeder I worked for sometimes had 16 at a time between her breeding stock, their puppies, and furbies she took back rather then see them go to unacceptable homes. All of that being said, I am always open to any suggestions and input anyone has to offer. |
