Oscar's ears are floppy--his cartiledge isn't thick enough for them to stay up. If you let the hair on the ears stay long, that should help. They are so cute with floppy ears.

I have two male yorkies, one is 14 months and the other 15 months. I tried everything to get their ears to stand, no luck. Just recently, (at 13 months) Benni's ears started coming up, don't ask me why, I don't know. Garett's are totally floppy. I tried tape, shaving the ears constantly, even the tampons on the ears, no luck. I love them just the same, although I do admit that Garett still looks more like a puppy. As far as ear infections, I keep both boys ears cleaned regularly and neither one has had any ear infections. Although Gar's ears seem to get dirtier.

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I also love floppy ears...I think it gives them personality...Magic had her ears up the minute we got her and they have never gone down but Sailor's ears have always been down, although at times one of her ears stands up...but either way they are both so lovable that no matter how they looked I am going to love them to death...as of right now, Sailor has one up and one down, such personality!!!

I guess it depends on which direction they flop. I think floppy ears look so cute when they flop forward, BUT.. My Desi's ear tip backwards, so it looks like someone took a pair of scissors and cut the tip of her both ears straight across. I tried the tampons, I tried taping, gave her cottage cheese every morning and nothing.. She is 7 months old - 3 1/2 lbs. and I literally gave up. But, I just read on here that someone's yorkie's ears went up at 13 months. So, now I have a ray of hope. Either way I love her but we all want our babies to look good !!

My boyfriend and I like floppy ears too! I think they look more puppyish with floppy ears. I hope Deegan's stay like that, but just in case I might tape them down. Any idea's on what or how I should tape them down with?

Here's to floppy ears! Although it is not the "breed standard" I also like the floppy ears. You might be able to find a breeder who has two floppy eared parents. Good luck.

Muffin's (my avatar) ears never would stand. She still looked cute as a button to us. Here's Kacee below. I specifically requested the breeder not tape her ears. They may go up anyway. I'll take what I get. I just have a special love for those floppy ears. I never had any trouble in fourteen years with Muffin's ears. I just always made sure they were very clean and that I dried them well after a bath. That's important. If they have hair in the canal, it must be plucked to avoid any chance of bacteria collecting there. Muffin, for some reason, didn't have hair in the canal - just a little peach fuzz! Kacee does have hair there, so she gets plucked. :Puppy: I just love yorkies period. Ears up or down. They're all cute to me and so very precious! Oh! I just couldn't resist slipping in that other pic of Snoopy! Last edited by yorkieusa; 06-27-2005 at 08:58 PM.

I'm so glad to hear others have floppy eared pups. Asia's are floppy and I thought something was wrong. I think she looks cute with them down. I do care for the insides and have the canal pluked Plus every time she jumps up to greet me I can't help but rub those soft ears in both hands.
