| The thing that makes me the maddest is that these people won't take advice! They complain their puppy isn't potty trained, but they don't give the poor puppy a chance!! I've seen people complain about potty training and behavorial issues, then when I find out the puppy has only been with them for a few days, I get annoyed! It takes time for a puppy to get settled in. It takes longer than a few days or even a few weeks or months to potty train a puppy! I hate when I see people go out and buy a puppy and then once the "cuteness" wears off and they find out how much work they really are, they're ready to get rid of the pup. Geez, I never had any problems whatsoever training Jake, and Jackson is doing great so far too. It's ALOT of work and ALOT of effort, and if it's not worth it to these people, they should not own any kind of dog! A true dog lover is willing to make sacrifices and put in the time and effort that these pups need. The true dog lovers here are the ones who get upset at people who won't listen!!!

| I have to agree with you on this one. The one's that get me are the one's that come on and say their pup is 12 weeks old and still not potty trained. Like everything that is worthwhile it's worth the time and effort.

| i so totally agree with all of you!... i had been wanting a yorkie for about a year or two before i got Belle, and she has been a blessing, my bf kept telling me how much work she'd be and whatnot, and i was like its ok i can do it...honestly it was more work than i anticipated (duh) but i would not trade her for anything, there have been some frustrating times, but i know where i went wrong when those times arose... she continues to offer unconditional love to me (her mommy) and everyone in my family, including my brother who doesn't really like doggies... and she is by no means a show doggie, but to me she's the most beautifullest! she has something between a cottony and silky coat, and crooked teeth, but her little nose is the cutest thing and one look into her little eyes and you can't help but fall in love, she has the greatest personality ever, she is playful and oh so loving ![]()

WELCOME TO YT!!!!! I feel the exact same way about my Maggie. and you know, all the hard work that goes into raising these babies only brings us closer to them if we let it. i have learned her inside out...i know her expressions, tendencies, moods, and sense of humor. i can look at her and almost tell you what she is thinking. and it is because i was so attentive to her during her most critical times.

Thanks guys!!! i actually have been reading YT since i got Belle in Sept. 2006 but i hadn't posted often... since i joined![]() i know the situation the past couple of days has been bizarre to say the least... i can't believe anyone could stay mad at a yorkie whatever the reason... Belle has chewed up my shoes when she was a little younger...and even though i was mad, it was my fault for not putting them away, and as soon as i'd see her little face, and how upset SHE was for making mommy upset, i'd just be like "ugh, there she goes again, silly Belle..." i can't stay mad at her, plus i figured she already knew i'd get upset if she did it again, so i just ignored her for a few minutes so she knew she wouldn't get attention if she misbehaved she is the best!!...and i love YT where we can all share our love for these babies! ![]() thank you for the welcome!...and for the offer to help, i have researched tons since before i even got her, but it cant ever hurt to know more... i love learning new things and new ways to care for my furry one... sorry this got so long!!!!

| Hello everyone .... I just wanted to put my two cents in here. I have read numerous posts from new Yorkie owners complaining about potty training (after only a couple days) and they are ready to give up, etc. etc. I have never been a dog lover and said "no" to my two daughters about getting a puppy for many, many years. Last year, my oldest daughter was very ill and in the hospital for a very long time -- the only thing I could think of was getting a puppy for her to make her happy. I knew it was going to be a lot of work but we did a lot of research about Yorkies while she was inpatient. Now I can't believe how our lives have changed with our beautiful Yorkie, Kiki. The happiness it brings to my daughter and the rest of our family is priceless. She is like another child in the family. All I am trying to say here is that I would pick up 1000 poops a day just to see the happiness on my daughter's face. I would never complain about my Yorkie's accidents because we have so many things to be thankful for. I am so thankful for each day that passes because of Kiki coming into our lives and our daughter being home with us to enjoy her. Anna |

| Well if anyone has a negative word about any animal, they hear from me! I have more than 4 yorkies, I love them to death, they sleep in my bed and others in their little beds. I knit clothes for them, I bathe them, trim their ear tips, clip their nails and clean their behinds when "it" gets stuck on their hair, and I also clean their poop and pee, I complain about it when I see it but I justt do it and love them anyway. They are more adorable than some people. |

Wow, what a heartwarming story! I can relate to the poo part. My Sugar uses potty pads but usually feels the need to run while pooing. Consequently, even though he starts on the pad, the poo ends up on the floor waiting for me to clean it up. Who cares? It's sure not the biggest deal in my life and he's worth every poo I have to clean up and more. I hope your daughter is doing well. Welcome to YT.

| Thank you for the warm welcome. I can honestly say I have learned more on YT from all of the knowledgeable members than I have from reading any Yorkie books. I am so glad I found this site when we were doing our research on dog breeds. Anna http://www.dogster.com/dogs/511397 |

Thanks so much for posting that heartwarming story. We have had the same experience. My hubby has several very serious health conditions which caused him to have to retire unexpectedly. There are many days when he doesn't feel well enough to even get out of bed. BUT he always does, and at least sits in his easy chair holding Rexy and Rowdy. He will tell anyone who will listen that they are the lights of his life - you'd think I would be upset about that but I understand. They are his reason for getting out of bed and that is a GOOD thing, especially when he doesn't feel good. Another cute thing is that he doesn't look like he is old enough to be retired. So, when someone who doesn't know him asks about his occupation, he always says that his occupation is "holding dogs". And he is absolutely right, one or both of them are on his lap all the time. If not for them, I know he would be depressed and feeling much worse. They are truely the lights of BOTH our lives!!! Oh and I should add, that before the Yorkie boys, I was not a dog person either! Now, I can't imagine life without them!
