| New hi i am Niki and my little one's name is Gizmo, He is 9 weeks and we just got him on the 19th of this month. So i have alot of questions. The breeder we got Gizmo from used science diet but i have been reading that science diet isnt good for the dogs. Does anyone have any suggestions on food that are reasonable for puppies. Thanks Niki and Gizmo |

| Some common brands that people on here use are canidae, Innova, Natural balance, Royal canin, Chicken soup, Nutro and solid gold

| Hi Niki and Gizmo, Welcome to YT!! Gizmo is a cutie, thanks for sharing pics!! There is some great information on here about potty training bell's, I just purcahsed one for my little one and am hoping she will get the idea of ringing the bell when she has to go outside, right now she just sits and the front door and if I am in another room I do not know that she has to go or that she is even waiting for me to take her out. Good Luck!! |

| we got the bell and i am just hoping it will work... i mean i cant expect it to work in less then two days. and i know we are going to have to be patient with him... another thing is we bought a pet taxi with a bed to go inside of it, this is where we keep him at night and while we are at work but is it a good idea to put food in there while we are gone becus then he will never get potty trained outside of it right? what is the best idea on this. I have been coming home on my breaks and letting him out but i am afraid to give him food and have him poop in there or have him hold it till i get home 3 or 4 hours later.

| My two Yorkie girls will be three years old Dec.5 and Jan. 16 and have never heard the "no" word. When they are as young as your baby, you simple distract them if they go to chew something they shouldn't and give them their own chew. (maybe a nylabone or flavored budda bimple) They should never be allowed freedom in the house. They should be in an expent with their wire crate attached to it and a pee pad down at the other end and an attached water dish on the fence. Take them outside every hour to potty and play. This way they don't develop unwanted habits. They outgrow all the chewing stages and get house trained as well. I also home cook for them and feed them twice a day. It makes house training much easier when they poop at the same time each day. |

At night my yorkies sleep in a crate, a small one. They can lay down , but not walk around in it...it's the smallest one I could find, to prevent potty accidents in it. They like their cozy crates. I only put them in it at night, or if we are on a road trip and we have to leave them in the car. (I don't want anyone to see them and break in and take them, so we crate them and put them on the floor of the truck. BTW... it will take months to completely potty train...don't get discouraged! And congratulations...your baby is soooo doggone cute! deb | |
