I have been coming home on my breaks and letting him out but i am afraid to give him food and have him poop in there or have him hold it till i get home 3 or 4 hours later.
If you have to be gone for 3 or four hours for work here's what I would do. I would buy a petyard and put pee pads in it. A 12 week old puppy will have a hard time going 4 hours without going pee. I put a vinyl tablecloth under mine, covered it with a nice soft blanket, put the pen on that so it couldn't be pulled up, then put a pee pad on half the pen. A comfy bed on the other half and food and water dish. Then when we got home, we would take the baby out right away to go potty. At this tiny age, they have to go frequently, so always supervise to minimize the accidents. If you see him sniiffing around more avidly, he probably has to go. Scoop him up and go outside...lots and lots of praise when they do it outside. If you catch him in the act, you can interrupt by saying "aaah" and scoop him up... that way he knows it's wrong. NO spanking....

At night my yorkies sleep in a crate, a small one. They can lay down , but not walk around in it...it's the smallest one I could find, to prevent potty accidents in it. They like their cozy crates. I only put them in it at night, or if we are on a road trip and we have to leave them in the car. (I don't want anyone to see them and break in and take them, so we crate them and put them on the floor of the truck.

BTW... it will take months to completely potty train...don't get discouraged!
And congratulations...your baby is soooo doggone cute!
