| Male or female? Looking to buy a puppy in the future & I want a little cuddle bug who will sit on my lap! I've heard different things about male and female! Is it true female are not as strong headed and sassy as the males? |

| I have two males and five girls. I only have two girls that are cuddly and only one that loves my lap. Both my males are sweeter and try to get more lap time in. They are jealous and have to have their lovin much more than the girls. |

| Wellllllllllllll... I have 3 girls and 2 boys and I would say that the females ARE headstrong, AND sassy, and INDEPENDENT! The boys tend to be more loving and cuddly. But then again, I do have a female that is "Mama's Dog" She wants to be with me all the time.

| Quite the opposite, girls are the strong-headed sassy ones. lol. I'm partial to boys, they are perfectly happy hangin out with you all day. Girls usually have their own thing goin on.

| My girl NEVER sits in my lap unless she doesn't feel well. She is anything but a lapdog.

| I never owned a Female but it was my understanding the females are strong headed and have attitudes and mood swings. Very much like a human female. Vet told me that. I can only tell you that all the males I have owned ,Yorkie or mixed, they are all lover's |

| My female is more strong willed than my male. My male hates to get into trouble and my female is oblivious

| I have 2 boys that would be in my lap all the time if I let them. I've never had a female yorkie, but I did have a female poodle and she was very clingy and very much a lap dog. I can imagine female yorkies would be a little more independent and stubborn but I think it depends on the dog. For example, look at Villette's girls. This is an interesting thread. I'm enjoying reading about the personalities of everyone's babies

| My thoughts are . . . maybe you should think about adopting an older Yorkie, then you would be able to pick the one that best suits your wants. Their personalities can vary much like humans. Not all boys are headstrong and not all girls are headstrong. But if you look at adopting an older dog, you will be able to see their personality right off. Besides, there are many older Yorkies that need homes and you can always get a 2nd Yorkie. Like a previous poster said, you can never have too many. |

| I agree that every Yorkie has it's own unique personality. I have always had male dogs and had every intention of going with a male Yorkie but Lucy stole my heart. She is the most happy, even tempered, easy to train sweet cuddle butt I have ever known and she us so affectionate! I really lucked out

| I had the same question when I first started looking for a yorkie. The breeder had a boy and girl and she said the boys are usually more affectionate and lap dogs where the girls like to be independent. I ended up getting a girl who the lap dog of lap dogs and wants to me with mommy 24/7! hehe! When you find a breeder I would go and spend time with both the female and male and see their personalities I think it really depends on how you raise them as well!

| My little boy Nico is such a mama's boy! Loves to cuddle, and be held like a baby. It's quite funny actually, cuz he voluntarily throws his body back when you hold him up...so his belly can be exposed so you can just rub him up! But my girl Lexi is more like a Tom boy in diguise! Loves to play tug of war, be independent, TONS of energy, not too much of a snuggler, unless its time for bed.

| get one of each! i have 2 girls and 1 boy. the oldest girl is more loving and the youngest is more independent, but both are soooo darn picky. the girls will go into heat and you have to deal with some bleeding unless you have them spayed. the boy is more affectionate, loving, and calm. i just can't tolerate male behaviors such as marking and lifting while peeing. both sex are wonderful. get both!
