| New puppy worried about Mindy I'm struggling this morning. Mindy has had an upset stomach ever since we brought the puppy home. Sorry this is gross but she just had a real mucousy bm and I'm really concerned now. She's not eating well at all. I've been giving her most of my attention but she just isn't herself. Is this normal or is Mindy just super sensitive. I'm feeling like I should call my breeder and ask to bring Bear back. It's only been a few days that he has been here. I really don't want to mess Mindy up. She is such a sweet thing. I thought she would love the company but I think I was wrong. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks so much.

| When I brought Rusty home, he had the same problem for about 3 days. I think that it is the change in environment. I added boiled chicken and rice to his kibble and switched to bottled water. The diarrhea went away quickly and he was back to himself. Just becareful that he doesn't get hypoglycemic, have some nutrical/karo syrup nearby. Also, that he is drinking enough water. Hope your baby feels better soon!

| So I'm having the same problem right now! We just brought Pumpkin home and at first she and Roo seemed to be getting along really well but now Roo growls whenever Pumpkin gets near me or I'm giving Pumpkin attention. Also, Roo just got out of the emergency hospital because she was stressed out because we just moved. We got Pumpkin because we wanted a companion dog as well and it just doesn't seem to be working out so far. Plus it seems that Roo's back to not drinking again- she's still eating a little which is good but not much water. How do you feel about Bear? Are you attached at all? I think Pumpkin is adorable and sweet and cuddly but she barks and seems to be a lot more energetic than Roo ever was- even as a puppy. I'm just worried that it's all not a good fit =( I love my little Roo and it breaks my heart to see her so upset about all this but at the same time it would be awful to have to get rid of pumpkin =( Anyway I know how you feel and let me know what you decide about the puppy!! |

| Well I feel better knowing I'm not alone with how I am feeling. I love Bear to bits but if I had to decide between Mindy being happy and or keeping Bear, I would say Bear would have to go back to the breeders. I was so ready this morning to do that but then when I called the breeder a second time she said, "Are you sure that Mindy isn't going into heat?" This did cross my mind and I was wondering even before I got Bear if she wasn't starting because she was licking herself more often then normal. She does look a little swollen down there. I separated Mindy into another crate so she could get some peace and that seemed to help. I'll let you know how it goes. She did eat some this morning so that's a good sign and she is peeing normal so she must be drinking enough too. Keep me posted on how yours are doing. How old is Roo? Sounds so much like Mindy. Mindy is very quiet and very good, loves to give lots of kisses all the time. Bear on the other hand is whiney and likes to bark to be heard. Such extreme opposites. Could be why Mindy is stressing also. She's probably wondering why this noisy bugger is hanging around her. Have a good day. Hope things get better for us both. Thanks for your responses.

| Roo's 8 1/2 months and Pumpkin is about 11 weeks. Right now I have them seperated- Roo with me on the couch and Pumpkin in the kitchen (but she can still see me- she was chewing on my computer cables so I can't just let her run around!) and they're both playing quietly with little bitty rawhides- both teething. So it's okay for now though I'm seriously considering finding a new home for Pumpkin. She's such a cutie but she's definitely not what I was expecting- Roo has spoiled me! I'm definitely going to give her at least a week though to bond with Roo especially because Roo really does need a friend and if I just have to deal with breaking Pumpkin's bad puppy habbits- I can do that. So are you taking Mindy to the vet? Are you going to be getting her fixed or did you get them to breed? Good luck keep me updated!! I figure things have to get better...they can't get worse- poor little puppies!! |
