| I never did until last year.....and that is only because she gives me HUGE discounts and free things (like nail clippings, some products that I have gotten to review, etc). She knows that I am very serious about my dogs and I think she knows that I am not going anywhere. I am very thankful to have a wonderfully understanding vet that I can actually talk to and feel comfortable talking to. So, last year, we did a 2lb much of chocolates for her and the staff (it is a small vet, small town)...chocolates from a local chocolate maker. AND my daughter had taken a clay class and made a Noah's Ark sculpture that we gave to the vet (she collects that in her clinic). We made a home-made card with all the kiddo's on it. She was very appreciative and so was the office staff!!

| If I decide to send candy I'll do it in November probably. I don't necessarily want it to be a holiday gift (although I know I said that before) but more of just a thank you. I'm sure there are lots of sweets around there in December. I agree that it is not necessary to give gifts since they are paid. This is a unique situation though and this vet just did me a huge personal favor, so I just want to let her know that she is appreciated.

| Absolutely. My vet is always available, When my first Yorkie had breathing problems, the vet came at 3 and 5 A.M. with never a complaint. I consider him part of my family. He has been treating Delilah for a hormone imbalance and often doesn't charge me. His son finished vet school this year nd is just as caring. |

| I like ( not-poisonous) plants as gifts. They are living beings, very decorative and last longer than the typical chocolate/cookies. And everybody gets to enjoy them. |

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Gosh....some these posts make me a little sad, in a way. EllieMay, I think occasional gifts are wonderful, thoughtful, and kind! And, for some reason, your gut/heart is saying "I want to do a little something special for this person!" - so I say, go for it. You are very thoughtful. When Marcel was supposed to get neutered in Sept. (it was canceled while he was there), I brought in some yummy, thick cookies with a little label I made that said "To the Banfield Ladies, on my last day as a man. From, Marcel" - and at the end of the day, 3 employees thanked me and said how nice it was. So, I do think small things like that do have meaning. If a gift is meant to be thoughtful, then it just is!

They aren't down where any animal can get at them, and so far, I've never heard of an animal eating these plants. I don't think they are very tasty. Oleander are also very toxic, but they are everywhere you look here in CA. and I've not heard of any animal deaths from them. If your not comfortable giving certain live plants, then there are those really cute tiny Christmas trees, real and artificial that make a cute counter decoration. You could even buy the plain ones and add your own special touch to them. I made dough art one year and put staff members names on them for the tiny trees. I did white bones along with the staff names for the Vets. office. They each had something to take home after they closed for Christmas. Just another idea. | |

Your idea of handmade ornaments is GREAT! I just might go that route as I love my vet along with his staff. Not directed at you, I did not mean to make it sound as thou I gift their office for "favors", far from it, I have been going there for 20 years, I really like my Vet, he cares about me and my kids, and I care about him and his staff..... I like to show my appreciation, and they show their appreciation in return. Hope that makes sense.......

| Yorkiedaze, you have a lot of good ideas! I'm still thinking about all of it. I wish she would tell me what she likes. All I know is she does not like green things (lizards) and I wasn't planning on getting her any of those anyway. Maybe chocolate. What woman doesn't like that?

| I have the recipe for the dough that you make, bake and paint if anyone is interested. When my boys were little, we made tree orniments and other things with this. I still have some of theirs packed in Christmas and Halloween tubs. |

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I work in a vet's office and lots of our "regular" clients who are in all the time give gifts around the holidays and even more clients send holiday cards. usually we get LOTS of chocolate baskets, cookies, fruit baskets, flowers, coffee, etc. Some of them make us cookies, pies, breads, cakes, pretzels, etc. its really nice and we do appreciate it. Oh, starbucks and duncan donuts gift cards are also popular. Some clients bring us breakfast and coffee too. Lotion and hand cream is nice in the winter because we wash our hands like a billion times a day

| Absolutely, we have had the same Vet for the past 27 years. They have been there for all of our furbabies. I like to bring things to our Vet, he's wonderful, and I always add the girls at the front desk too

| Thanks Kellie. That is really good to know. If I send sweets I will do it another time since they are probably just about tired of it by the end of December. I never thought about Starbucks and Duncan gift cards. hmm.
