Hi everyone!
I went to a fall festival today in our area and the leaves were all changing, it was about 80 degrees (very warm for Buffalo at this time of year), and I brought Lulu, my new goDoggie bag from Chattiesmom and Lulu's stroller with me. I was so excited to bring Lulu along and to have my new bag. It gets very busy there so I brought Lulu's stroller so she could enjoy everything without worrying about being stepped on.

Well, I was looking at something and my sister was with Lulu in her stroller and someone came up and said "Oh a dog stroller, how stupid". That made me pretty mad but I didn't say anything. About ten minutes later someone else commented to their friends, "Look, a rat in a stroller". I looked at him and said, "you know, I heard that" since he practically shouted it and he replied "oh well".

I know not everyone likes dog strollers or might not like a small dog like a Yorkie (although I couldn't understand why!), but do they have to make comments so I can hear them? I didn't ask them for their opinion. I am just minding my own business trying to enjoy myself. If I have a negative comment about something or someone, I just keep it to myself because it is just that--my opinion. I would never try to intentionally hurt someone else's feelings just to make myself feel good and get a laugh from my friends.

Needless to say, I couldn't get that out of my mind the entire time I was at the festival. Ugh, some people.

Oh well. Thanks for letting me vent!

OH I KNOW!

It used to make me livid when my Heidi used to get pathetic not very witty comments...usually some teenage idiot calling her a rat...i just wanted to smack them! they think they can comment because to them it's 'just a dog' but to us they are our family..our babies.

Try not to let the morons of this world get to you...i know its hard!

People like that are just stupid. We all see things that we don't like or wouldn't want but most of us don't feel the need to announce it.

I think some people just do it to see how you'll react. Try to ignore them and enjoy yourself next time. I have a doggie stroller and I love it.

Colleen - I am so very sorry that your bright sunny day had those few clouds in it. One of the major things wrong with this world we live in is that people have the idea just because we live in a country that believes in Free Speech, that they are free to say anything they want. They forget about the responsibility to do and say the right things.

Unfortunately what those rude people don't understand is that with freedoms come responsibilities. I have always said that

Just because a person has the right to do/say something doesn't mean saying or doing that thing is the right thing to do or say.

People like that are not humans and they are very ignorant, They might be envy they can't afford a "rat" like ours. Don't let that spoil your day and ignore those stupid comments

Don't let them get to you! Sticks and stones can break your bones, but names can never hurt you.
They are probably just jealous that they don't have anything as adorable as your Lulu to care for.
By the way, I am very close to your area, just across the creek, as they say, in Canada.

When I come across rude people like that I like to ask them if their mother taught them to act like that. I'm old enough to get away with that.
We had the opposite experience today. We took our two Yorkies with us to a downtown festival in their enclosed stroller. They were a hit. It keeps them safe and doesn't allow people to try to pet them, including small children. The pups felt secure and snoozed part of the time. Then we went for a walk in the park. The babies are tired now! We saw a young girl with a ferret on a harness and leash. Now that looked like a rat!

We went to festival in our area last weekend and we took Gracie and Halle in their stroller...we call it their "pink buggy". Anyway, we got some stares and some people said how cute. Hubby would not push it. He was somewhat embarrassed of it. The girls love it so I don't mind it at all. We were the only ones that we saw pushing a dog stroller. I don't really care what people think. I am happy and comfy pushing my dogs in a stroller.
They just don't understand.

I'm sorry you had to put up with that. I just wonder why people think they can say such rude things and not worry about how it is going to make the other person feel. Didn't their parents teach them any better?

I try to believe that the majority of people are good and there are only a few bad apples, but sometimes I wonder.

You just enjoy that precious baby of yours!

No matter how much money you make you can never "buy" class. Manners in the US have really declined to the point that I feel out of place because I do have manners.
