| My little boy cry a lot at night. HI Everyone, My 8 weeks old baby boy crays a lot at night. I don't really want him to sleep with us. For now when he is a baby, but we just can't sleep. I had to sleep on the floor tonight next to his create so he dose not cry. It brakes my hart, when he does. His crate is down stairs. He got all his toys down there and even a little stuff animal that has sent of his mother. I was wondering what can i do to make him feel more comfortable. Maybe move the crate to our bedroom ? Any input that can get me some sleep will be gladly appreciate. |

| At 8 weeks he should still be with his mother, for the next 2-3 weeks. But since you have him now, I would suggest having his crate right next to your bed at least. he is too small to be alone and scared. Give him pleanty of love and time, 8 weeks is too early for him to be away from his mother. Good luck. |

| Yes, move his crate into your bedroom - the poor little guy is just lonely. 8 weeks is pretty young so you'll probably still have to get up a couple times during the night to take him potty. I put the bench from my vanity on my side of the bed and put the puppies' crates on it so they were level with the bed and could see me and then threw a towel over it all to make it warm and cosy. Good luck and we look forward to lots of pictures of your new baby

| Hi, and welcome to YT! Your baby will be fine, i know it's heartbreaking to hear them cry, but usually it only lasts for a few nights. My girls never cried the first nights, i had them in a padded washing basket, with a stuffed toy, and a blanket, it was high enough, and couldnt get out without any help. I kept it right next to the bed, so i was able to check on them during the night. After 2 weeks, i placed them in a baby playpen which was also right next to the bed, when they were old enough, we allowed them to sleep with us. No, they didnt come home together, so they took turns sleeping in the washing basket, and after, i placed them together in the baby playpen. It's a lot easier on you, to have your baby in the bedroom with you, so you can comfort him when he needs you. You are hes mommy now, and will need to be comforted by you. Good luck, this only lasts for a short while. |

| we also have lacey in her kennel same height as our bed, the first night she wimpered a bit i stuck my finger in there and she went to sleep. now our routine is play on bed ( blankie game) she likes to chase our hands under the blankets, then when i say kennel she goes right in. i am very lucky she has always slept through the night and we got her at 9 weeks.

YT 500 Club Member | When we first got ours, we had her in her crate on the floor in our bedroom. However, the first night, my husband put it on a chair next to the bed, and he put his fingers through the door and slept that way all night.

| Your new pet is scared and lonesome for company. Remember he came from being with his litter mates and his momma. Please put the create up in your bedroom. He will feel secure hearing you breathe and know he's not alone. Heavens, he's only 8wks old! Think how he must feel being alone all of a sudden in a strange place. Sometimes you have to put yourself in their paws to understand what they are feeling. I know this will solve your problem. It's cruel to leave him alone downstairs by himself. Do you have night lights on? |

| Crying Welcome! You've received lots of good advice. The babe needs to be close to you and receive heaps of love. The crying will pass. In the meantime, try to grab a nap when you can so you don't get stressed from lack of sleep. |

| Thank you all for all the great advise. To those that ask about the night light. yes he has a nigh light on next to his crate. Spend a night on the hardwood floor next to him and, he slept just fine. I hava a one and a half year old Yorkie also and, he sleeps with us. I don't want to put them together as of right now because I don't trust the older one that much alone with the baby. I will put the create by my bed tonight and see what happen. I'm too old to sleep on the hardwood floor. P.S I will post some pictures soon. |

| I'd definetly try putting the crate in your room, so he feels closer to you. Is he crying, because he has to go potty?

| I got Meka at 9 wks... I had to put her in a childs playpen w/ pad etc... and placed it next to my bed. I did this for a couple weeks until she was comfortable at night... They also have stuffed animals w/ heart beats, to help them feel secure when your not w/ him Just remember he's still a baby and has just been seperated from his mommy/litter mates... he needs comfort. He doesnt have to sleep with you, but maybe at least near you

| Hi! You have gotten great advise. Sawyer used to sleep in his crate on my nightstand so he could see me. If he stired, I put my finger in the crate and he went right back to sleep. He was 12 weeks when I got him though, so your younger baby may need to go potty during the night; but they go right back to sleep afters. Sawyer sleeps with us now that he is older. Just a thought; but with your first yorkie sleeping with you, maybe keeping the new baby out of the bedroom all together will cause a little territorial competion with the two dogs. Your older baby needs to know that the younger one is part of the clan too.lol

| I had the perfect solution to stopping Buddy crying at night....... he slept on my pillow, half on my head! lol I was lucky he wouldn't pee in our bedroom when he was little, everywhere else in the house but not our bedroom. The first night we had him i tried him sleeping in the kitchen with his bed, night light, blankets etc... he cried and cried then went quiet, i went and peeked on him and my daughter was fast asleep on the floor with him curled up asleep on her. next night was our bed.
