Bottom line, the pups are mine, I have my criteria and place them with families that I feel are deserving and would benefit my pups. People don't have to approach me for a pup and I am just just as particular on where I place them.

Sorry about my previous post, I don't know this person so I was wrong to judge. I just hate to see people getting upset w/ each other.

I Will have to Agree Yorkies and other small breeds are $$$ but Most Breeders are not making money. I saw some place on here once. The cost of raising a litter? Does any one remember that?

Who is upset? not me but I do think its interesting to see that I may offend someone if I ask the price first on something i want.

If I receive an inquiry via email with one sentence or a phone call starts out "how much do you pups cost" I simply reply I have nothing available.

I've been on both sides of the spectrum. First as a potential new owner looking for my first pet yorkie. My husband said there was no way he'd pay that much for a dog.....at that time $500.00....However, my tears won out and the fee was paid. I look back on it now and it's a mere drop in the bucket over what I've paid for my show dogs.....and all the costs incured that goes along with all of it.

I think all breeders are and I just think its wrong to assume that someone doesn't care about the quality of the pup or the care just because they ask you the price. Thas all.

I do want to say I have a new found respect for you because of something you said in a previous thread. I know where you are coming from with the cost. My gripe is when someone charges the same money for a show dog that they would for a pet.

Anyway I have to get back to work.

There are certain phrases that bother a breeder....that one just happens to be mine. That and when I get an e-mail from someone asking for a dog. It makes me feel that the person doesn't want make the effort in getting to know me. The 3rd phrase that really bother's me is "is do you have any breeders for sale"........

Can't help the feelings, but they are my pet peeves.

I can understand this one.... but my opening phrase is Usually how I admire the dogs that I have see and in the second or third sentence i would inquire about the cost.....

I guess i will just have to wait Until I am your shoes...

Sometimes when breeders say this I think that they get forget about the things that no one can afford but are able to buy because the cost that they do pay accrues over time. Heck naww I wouldn't buy a dog if i knew i would have to buy 2000$ worth of dog food at one time to prove I could afford to take care of one... but to pay 20-40 bucks for food every few months is different.
What if you had to have a big major surgery that would cost let's say 3500 could you afford it? Most referred vet special hospitals have to have payment up front...of course my price isn't that much but what if one of your babies had to have that kind of surgery? No one expects to have to have emergency surgery but it can happen....

I paid plenty for Kalina and don't regret one dime. In fact, I'm thinking of setting up a lifetime annuity for the breeder. :) j/k

She is everything that I wanted though and so far seems to be incredibly healthy. I'd rather put my money toward her than a ton of other things I can think of. :)

OH and btw...LOL i'm not upset at all by this thread it's an educational thread if you ask me :) Education is a good thing not a bad thing :)
