none of that has proven to be true with romeo. he will be 9 moths old on the 26th and i can honestly say we have not had any signs of problems no matter how people say there will be - he is not a biter or a growler. Quote:

I'm glad that he is doing so great but I don't think you can find an experienced and reputable breeder willing to let them go that young. Do we have any breeders here on YT that would?

| Sorry for your loss .. the breeder is being an a.. on this one. Well your husband is just responding like most men who did not want a puppy would. He should try to be a little more compassionate. My husband had to be talked into the first and then the second , and when it is meant to be... fate will lead your way . Never give up on any dream. As you can see my man loves my babies.

| I am so sorry for your loss and the heartbreak. Does this breeder need to be reported to the appropriate agency? The breeder should know better!! Was this a puppy mill that you purchased Teddy from? Praying you find the perfect fit with a new furbaby.

| You will find some sold too young do okay...but we are talking about the law of averages. Most puppies sold under 8 weeks have some types of problems and set backs...I happen to think 12 wks is a good age to place most Yorkies and it is based on 35 of placing puppies..early on I let them go at 8/9 weeks...9 times out of 10 the new owner called numerous times the first month for advise ....then I let them go at 12 weeks and all I got was calls like this...."Puppy is eating, playing, sleeping, using potty pads..we are so happy! No one needed to tell me...my common sense kicked in... PS..reputable breeders do not sell pups at 6 weeks...in many areas it is illegal. Last edited by YorkieRose; 10-01-2007 at 12:40 PM. |

no it is not. like someone said when this same topic has come up before - maybe it is a regional thing but i know 5 other people with yorkies that were bought at 6 weeks of age with the same experience that i have. no problems at all. my next door neighbor bought one at 6 weeks and she is the sweetest little girl. every ad in the paper here lists yorkies starting at 6 weeks of age. what other breeders here would do is of no concern to me.

| It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I also lost a yorkie, however mine was 11 months, I understand the pain you feel. I hope that you will one day be able to get another pup. It does help the healing. Be sure to wait and find a pup that is a little older so hopeful it will be healthy. I'm sure it will give you many years of happiness. You are in my prayers. Dawn

| Life really is full of surprises and wonderful people. Thank you all for help. Nothing will replace my feelings for Teddy. He was my very first little yorkie even if I had him for such a short time. Thank you Everyone really. For all the tips and helpful information. I honestly think find yt was the best thing could have happened for me. This community is full of caring parents for their little ones. And all seem to have the understanding that the most important thing is having a wonderful little person to love and care for that no matter what will be your loyal little friend. |

Sadly, Alabama is NOT one of those states who adopted the policy and it is not at all uncommon to see Yorkies here being placed that young. I'm sure there are many cases where the pups were fine and had no lasting effects--behavioral or otherwise--as a result, but that is NOT always the case. The guideline that suggests placing pups at a later age is based on tons of research based on long term studies, not just a handful of people's experience. What is pathetic is that this breeder clearly didn't care what happened to the pup, nor is he sympathetic regarding what happened, nor did he consider the downfall of placing a 6 week old pup. Way to set a classic example of the type of person it takes to send off a young pup bud! To the OP--I am VERY sorry for your loss. As someone already mentioned, odds are very good that there was something wrong with your baby from the start. This was more than likely something you could have done nothing to prevent and no fault of your own. Please know that when you are ready to take another sweet baby into your home, you have come to a great place full of caring, knowledgeable people who are more than willing to help you along the way and share in your joy and grief, whatever comes your way. | |

I have a boy "Andy" reserved for her and she will be picking it up when she comes here in about 4 weeks - he will be 12 weeks old and ready to rock and roll in the Yorkie world I feel honored to be able to give some joy to someone who has had to go thru what she went thru this morning and someday maybe she will have the opporitunity to pass it along. Just doing it cause I love Yorkies and YT,
