Well if it's a money issue, why not get a breed that isn't as expensive?? Jack Russell Terriers come to mind...I see those in the paper for 150 dollars and they are good dogs...

i see. well, if you do come to a point where you can get another one, check out the yt boards...there are lots of pups that need new homes. and hang around yt for a while...you will learn SOOOOOOOOOOO much and hopefully be better prepared for your next pup. (not saying you weren't prepared...but i dont think you can ever know too much

)

good luck!! and tell hubby that money comes and goes...get over the money already!!

i think she is saying that her dream dog was a yorkie...i can relate to that. i didn't want anything but a yorkie...didn't matter how much it costed me. but as i said in my previous post...she can find one that is needing rehomed for a lot less than most yorkies cost.

Sorry to hear what happened. I suspect he was too young to leave his mother and died from hypoglicemia which would cause seizures. A pup this young would have had to be feed every few hours to prevent hypoglicemia which I'm sure the breeder never told you.

I am so very sorry that you lost the pup. It hurts. Maybe in time your husband will relent and agree to another pup. Sending hugs

To the OP,

I have a rescue I'm looking for a home for. She is 6 months old and will be on the bigger side, about 8 or 9 lbs fully grown. Very loving. Has slight heart murmur. PM me if interested.

As for the breeder...well it's his right to ask for an autopsy I suppose...certain breeders would probably be more sympathetic but it sounds as if he isn't....

Usually a couple of hundred dollars and most of the time it will come back inconclusive so you are no further ahead.
Six weeks is way too young, larger breed puppies don't go to new homes at that age anymore.
From what the OP said about the behaviour of the pup, I would suspect something was wrong with this pup from the beginning. It was nothing you did wrong, the wrong doing was the breeder you got him from that sold him at that age and likely knew something wasn't right or didn't notice because he didn't care.
It could have been anything, heart problem, immature kidneys, liver problem including severe shunt or malformed liver. A six week old pup should still be full of themselves. Mine are not even fully weaned at six weeks however.
I don't let my pups go to a new home until 4 mos of age.
I don't think you have to be shy about getting another one, just be sure you check out your breeder and don't ever buy one that young.

I am truly sorry about your puppy. Have you been about the talk with the breeder and see what they might do as a refund etc...?
All Yorkies die, but a healthy puppy should be a companion for many years..God Bless you.
