| Ashamed to admit this... Britney is turned three in May and I STILL haven't gotten her spayed. I've scheduled appointments to have it done and then cancel them because I am SO AFRAID. I don't know what I would do if I would lose her. She's been through so much stuff with me (nothing bad.. just like move from VA to Philadelphia and such), so she's like a child to me! It worries me sick just thinking about it. I REALLY need to do it soon though. I am thinking that if I schedule a last minute(ish) appointment than I can get it done without canceling. I will most likely be using the same vet that neutered Brooklyn as we were pleased. What kind of questions should I ask when I call tomorrow morning? Should I get blood work done? How far in advance should the blood work be done prior to spaying? I know this might sound really dumb- but is there I better day of the week than others to have the surgery done? Anything else? Thanks guys. |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I know just how you feel. London will be 1 in 3 days and she is not yet spayed cause i am freaked out and scared. I know i eventually have to do it but because of her tiny frame i've put it off but i have been asking questions. I don't know where to get it done cause a lady told me not to get any surgery's done at the vet i go to. She also said i might want to wait, but ive waited i think enough. I don't think she will grow more.

| I understand how you feel. My Coco is not a tiny but I was so worried when I got her spayed. Our vet is a close family friend and he said he would take the day off and let his partner do it in case something happened and I murdered him lol. He was just joking... anyway she had the op had a few teeth pulled and was fine. I know there are risks but we will say a prayer when she goes in and you know how strong YT prayers are

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Awww Kyle! I understand exactly how scared you are, because I felt the exact same way. Little Tatum was spayed just over a month ago and I was a nervous wreck - so worried that I was literally making myself sick to my stomach thinking about it so much. Her size is what really scared me because she is so small. I think regardless I would of been scared, no matter what her size (I always was with my other babies) but I have never have an animal spayed (well, or neutered) that was this small because I've never owned a baby this small. However I have to tell you, when I dropped her off early in the morning to have it done, the vet called me back within an hour (maybe a little longer) and said that the surgery was already over and that she was already waking up and was doing just FINE! You don't know HOW relieved I was to hear those words You just have to go for it! I KNOW it's scary (trust me, I KNOW) - but it's really not as bad as we (the owners) make it out to be. I expected her to be just awful after the surgery too, and she really wasn't. True she was groggy and very tired and slept alot, but the next day it was almost like she had forgotten all about it ever being done Ok sorry - I know I rambled (I tend to do that alot ) but honestly I'm sure everything will be ok with sweet little Britney And you will have all of YT praying for her when she goes in!

| I know exactly how you feel, my Indy was spayed at 15 months, it took me that long to build up the courage to do it. I was sick to my stomach at the thought, alot more nervous than I was to have my boys neutered. But you know what, she did great, no complications at all. |

I was soo nervous about Aubrey. I cancelled two appts, then I finally decided that I needed it, bc I couldn't get Dakota pregnant, shes to small and Aubreys to big!!! And I didn't want him to be humping his sister! Plus its def. better for them in the long run. | |

| Miss Ellie is six and still isn't spayed. We were at the vet a couple weeks ago and she found out Ellie isn't spayed...busted. The vet is very concerned about Ellie getting a pyometra and the surgery for that being difficult since she is so small. I will probably have it done some time this year. I realllllllllllllly don't want to.

| I'm right there with all of you too !! My Maggie is almost 5 months and is tiny, 28 oz.. The vet said we'de talk about getting her in in a few weeks. My stomach is in knots just thinking about it. BUT July 2 of this year I had to put a baby "to sleep" because of breast cancer. She was 12 1/2. (not a yorkie) She had had cancer surgery about 7 months before but it came back with a vengeance. The vet says that every year you wait to get a dog spayed, the higher the chance that it may develop breast cancer. All I know is it about killed me. Geesh, why's it have to be so hard ? | Thanks for all the support, guys. Any suggestions on questions I should ask the vet? Should I get blood work done? How far in advance should the blood work be done prior to spaying? I know this might sound really dumb- but is there I better day of the week than others to have the surgery done? Anything else? |

| I know exactly how you feel. Penny's suppose to be getting spayed on the 16th of this month, and now I'm questioning myself as to whether I should wait awhile, because she just came out of heat, so I know I have some time before her next one. The thought of losing her makes me sick to my stomach.

| I spayed Mia at 6 months she weighed 3 lbs. I was a nervous wreck. I prayed that whole night. I cried at the vets when I dropped her off. They called me 1 1/2 hrs later to tell me she was done and they pulled 3 teeth and she came thru like a champ. I did pay for IV fluid & a cathater <sp> and pain meds. She jumped into my arms when she saw me. She was a little groggy but when that wore off I had to make sure to make her rest because she wanted to play and go up and down the stairs and never once did I have to give her the pain meds. So yes it's scary but it's over before you know it. |
