We have a few other options in town, so I am hopeful that we find our real groomer quickly!

| ![]() I stopped taking mine to the groomers when the receptionist overbooked for an 8 hour day and my baby was there for almost 12 hours...whjen I finally went to get him, he was absolutely TERRIFIED...he was wild eyed and had the jerks....he was snuffling and wheezing...I am SURE they held him under the faucet and he got water in his nose and felt like he was drowning...It took me almost 8 months before I could even TURN WATER ON IN THE KITCHEN SINK, EVEN IF IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BATHING HIM, WITHOUT HIM HEARING IT AND FLEEING, TERRIFIED OUT OF HIS MIND.....He was NEVER the same after that day....I got my own clippers and videos and started doing my own.....I will never claim to be even a poor groomer at best, but at least they stand still while I do what I can do, they are happy, and they are not cut and bleeding and terrified...they may all LOOK like Chineese Cresteds, but that is ok...they think that is normal.....they dont care, I dont care, and they dont go out in public! |

| ![]() What exactly is your complaint??? Isn't there a place you can contact to report this. I mean, if your dog suffered injury I'm sure you will have documented proof.... Pictures, vet bills,etc..... You could gather all that and see if groomers are licensed or some organization to back the public from injuries caused by them. If this place is THAT BAD I'm sure there is other documentation to pursue this in a formal matter. Id try something devoted more towards the grooming laws. Good luck L B |

| ![]() I can tell you that there are no regulations on who can be a groomer. Anyone can start a grooming business without any training of any sort. All they need is a business license so they can charge sales tax. There are no inspections required and no grooming license required either. Places like PetCo and PetSmart "train" their own people by their own standards. You might want to go to the AKC website and look for a conformation or specialty breed club in your area. They usually have contact people who can be helpful in directing you to someone they have found they can trust with their dogs. A person who grooms show dogs usually has ample experience and knowledge of how to groom and handle dogs. It is still up to you to check out the person yourself though. I would not leave my baby alone but would insist on staying until she was done. When I decided to try the groomer I use now I knew she was quite exclusive and picky about what dogs she groomed. I was almost afraid I would not meet her criteria. As it turned out she has raised and shown Shih Tzu's for years. She only does dogs who come on a regular basis and who are kept clean between groomings. Not the regular bathe and shave folks who come in once or twice a year. Once she got to know Gracie and I she let me bring her when I needed her nails and the length of her coat evened out. Gracie gets a weekly bath and is combed and brushed daily. I now feel confident enough to leave her there for a bath and grooming and they call me as soon as she is done. Usually within an hour and a half. If you cannot find a peach like I have then learn to groom your baby yourself. There are way too many self proclaimed "groomers" out there that can cause permanent damage to your pet. My groomer told me she gets people calling her on a regular basis with horror stories about what has been done to their pets. She said that in most states animals are considered property and as such there is little you can do if someone harms them at a grooming 'place.' |

| ![]() Sorry that happened to you and your baby. I always had a great experience with the groomer I was using and could tell he was great to Charlie because he always came back well groomed and full of spunk. I would be so mad if I were you. Him using the term he was bad doesn't sound good either. I hope Diddy recoops from this and isn't scared every time he has to go to the groomer. I found Charlies groomer through lots of research and ratings. I used yelp and other rating sites. His groomer had 5 stars on every one of them, unlike others who had a good rating on one but not the other. Just a suggestion you may want to try. I'm glad I did. Good luck and I hope Diddy is feeling better. And like some others have mentioned, self grooming is great too. I have been doing that and it's working out pretty well. | ![]() Yup better to do it yourself...I'm just lucky my wife use to work on ppl for a living. The dog is easy. But if that wasn't the choice I would teach my self. If it's gonna be messed up I will mess it up myself for free ...with love ![]() |

| ![]() I take my dogs to a grooming school. The students are very closely supervised while grooming and the first class they teach there is safety. My girls always look good! One thing that might make you more comfortable would be to ask if you can stay while your pup is being done. If a groomer won't allow that, I'd keep right on walking out the door with my baby!
