It happened to my first baby Ginger, although she did not bleed , she got a very very bad haircut and after that I never took her to the groomer, plus the fact that i have to leave her there for a few hours. Now, i have 4 dogs and me and my husband groomed them. I bought these tapes on how to groom dogs and so far we're doing ok

Poor Diddy!! Hope that sweet man is feeling better. Tell him that Toto & I would love to smack that guy that hurt his little paws!! I waited for an appointment with a groomer for two months .... she was supposed to be unbelievably good! First time was just kinda hmmmmm? I took her back a few more times ... last time, Toto looked like she had been groomed with a weed eater rather than clippers!! Toto is such a sweetie and never, ever moves, fights or struggles with grooming, bathing or nail trimming! There was absolutely no excuse. I drove straight to Sally Beauty Supply, told the lady what I wanted the clippers, etc. for and bought everything I needed. I already had a little pair of those Peanut clippers for her paw pads, ears and private areas. Next grooming day it was just the Toto & me and we have never looked back! Believe me, if I can do it, you can do it! Granted, on a bad day, Toto sometimes looks like she has little "chicken legs" but it grows back pretty fast! C'mon Mom, give it a try and please let us know how little Diddy likes being groomed by his loving Mom!!

Oh, that just makes me furious. I saw one of the groomers at Petsmart one day mistreating this dog and when she seen me watching she stopped. I use to groom several years ago and its just not that hard. Go buy you a book and go to Walmart and buy the Wahls clippers. They are alot cheaper than Oster or Andis and they will do just fine for what you want to do at home. Kayla is 14wks. old and I have just about decided to never take her to a groomer. She wiggles so much that I thought they might could do a better puppy cut. But, after reading this I don't think so. I would die if anyone treated my baby like that. I think he should have been reported to the owner and I would ask my money back. Poor little Diddy.

What a horrible experience for Diddy...and no, what happened is NOT your fault! It is difficult to find a great groomer that will do everything you want and do a good job.

Definitely give Diddy some time to get over this traumatic experience. He may NEVER feel comfortable with people messing with his paws again. I know that Gracie has had her nails cut into the quick a couple of times. I do her nails now and have such a hard time when doing it.

Hugs to Diddy!

I am sorry that this happened to Diddy. I hope that when you call, they refund you'r money! Give Diddy extra loving the poor little guy!

I do not have my puppy yet but I have seen so many stories of bad groomers that I am afraid to have Jeter go to one once I have him home. My mother grooms her 2 Yorkie girls and I like how they look, not the "Show" long coat but not short puppy cut it's more of a medium length, they always look so cute. She also will groom my sister's toy poodle so I am having her groom Jeter for me. She has a cosmetology license but never practiced it she just keeps her license up to date and attends refresher classes every few years to keep up. I know it's not the same with grooming dogs but her girls look nicely groomed and never have had a bad cut.

I work at an animal hospital, and the number of grooming-related mishaps we see and hear about coming out of other grooming facilities is sobering. The worst was a yorkie who burned to death when its groomer attached a dryer to its carrier and left it unattended only to have the dryer catch fire. We see a lots of diseases too that were most likely contracted at grooming facilities that don't thoroughly check out vaccination histories, dogs who seizure because they are so stressed by grooming, skin infections that can be contracted if grooming instruments aren't properly sterilized, nicks and cuts...

To be honest, I don't know that I'd be comfortable leaving my dog with a groomer except that I know mine and her assistants very well-- they work right down the hall from me. If I ever move away or change careers, I'll probably try to find an animal hospital that does grooming; at least then, you know that standards of cleanliness are likely to be high, vaccinations are taken seriously, and a veterinarian is close by in case anything goes wrong.

It just is not right that beauticians MUST be licensed but dog groomers have no requirements at all!!!!! At least in OHIO!!!! My best friend is a dog groomer and the owner of the place she works at has tried for years to make it a law!!! They told me that people should look for a grooming establishment that has all their groomers certificates framed and hanging at the entrance. She said to go in and ask to speak to the owner and ask questions-- lots of questions!!!! Good owners respect this!!! Ask who has the most experience with grooming Yorkies and then speak to her -- explain that you have had bad experiences and if you like her then request her!! Where my friend works at the owner requires that all her groomers attend two workshops per year and the owner pays for them to go to these!!!

Poor Baby, hope he gets over the bad Groomer ! And these little guys remember everything !We had a experience with new Groomer too yesterday. She was extremely nice, and i heard good things about her. She does it out of her Home. And was reasonable. I guess i didn make myself very clear, and both my babies are bald. Wanted Apollo cut down, as he had very uneven hair as he had various areas shaved due to a skin problem. Kinda like it on him, exept his ears, he looks like Dumbo the Flying Elephant and is ready for Take off
I guess gonna have to look at our Snowboy Eddie pics again and print it out and take it to her for next time.... but my poor Rosi, i wanted her trimmed, not cut down... all is left of her is her topknot..... just wanted to cry.... my own fault i guess ! You can bet i will be a little clearer !
I have Clippers, but they wont mind me, and i am scared that i hurt them.... and what about anal glands and ears plucking ???
Hope your Baby gets over that bad experience, kisses to him please !

I would definitely call the owner and threaten calling the BBB on that. There's no excuse.

When I got in the car I noticed blood all over my clothes. I took him back in and the guy said. "Oh it is just her nails bleeding, She was very very bad when I was cutting her nails." He just spent 5 hours with my dog and he never realized it was a male dog? Did he have to day he was bad? I feel like such a bad mommy for having Diddy go there and end up bleeding and his hair looks horrible!

Now I need to find a different groomer. How am I going to ever feel safe taking my baby to a groomer?

We are going to Woofstock tomorrow in Harrisburg PA and I was going to enter him in a costume contest. I guess now I can enter him in the scariest category.

I am just so upset and don't know what to do.
this is exactly why maggie usually looks unkemp I guess. I am too scared to take her to a groomer i've heard so many horror stories about that, so I just do the best I can with her myself. At least she doesnt get hurt nor shaking nor cut with me. I do take her to the vet and they clip her rear and nails. I cant do that. We live and learn and I thank God Ive learned thru other peopls being nice enough to tell what happens sometimes and I'm just sorry these people had to have it happen to their babies. I dont think I will EVER, EVER take maggie to a groomer. I think I would demand my money back or I would have to at least tell them just what I thought of them and that I would tell everyone what they did. Word of mouth is the best advertisement. good or bad.

As a first time customer, there was a severe lack of customer service. We have a small Yorkie puppy, and we requested they not use the table grooming leash around her neck due to potential trachea problems. The staff gave us a hard time, treating us like we didn't know what we were talking about and that they knew best. Thankfully, they didn't put the leash around our pup's neck, but the fact that we were treated the way we were was very upsetting. We were told it would be an hour and a half wait, despite having an appointment. We were unable to watch our pup get washed and dried. We were told they did not use heat but we don't know for sure. The shampoo that was used made our dog smell like a car freshener mixed with stale cigarette smoke. Our pup's eyes have been red (bloodshot) and watery since we brought her home. One nail on each paw was forgotten while being clipped. Her hair was cut very unevenly, some of which we did not notice until we got home. After they gave us our little girl back, we were told what we owed and that was that. Again, the lack of customer service made us feel like they didn't even care if we came back. Overall, we were not impressed and we will not be back. From a first (and only) time customer, STAY AWAY!
