| Is anyone still letting yorkies play with toys from China? Just curious. I have taken ours away except for nylabones and a couple of more expesive plush toys they love. Going to PetSmart today and hopefully they are not from China. Hubby thinks I am crazy to take away all their toys. I am looking forward to the next GE, but it is going to be a hard one since most will ban any toys made from China. I am already sending an order back in the mail that I purchased for Christmas and the next GE. They are soooo soooo cute Christmas toys, but guess they need to go back

| I can't quite bring myself to throw them away, but 90% of the toys made in China are in a box in the closet. Gizmo has a select few toys (that I washed) that he really loves that are staying out until our new toys arrive. (I've ordered from WestPaws) I don't know what I'm going to do about a squeaky ball though?? He's already worn all of the black spots off, so if there was lead on it...it's too late now. One of our vendors could make a bundle if she/he could find a squeaky rubber or laytex ball that was not made in China and offer it for sale here. I have looked everywhere and emailed almost everyone, and the answer I keep getting is that no one knows of a squeaky laytex or rubber toy NOT made in China!!

| I have thrown away all of the latex toys and the hard ones with paint on. However I have allowed them to keep 2 plush toys and a hard black solid rubber ball that are made in china. The plush toys because they have had them over a year and the 1 hard ball because it does not have any paint on it and the company assured me they test all of their toys. TBH i'm not SO bothered about ones that don't have paint on them as its the paint that are causing the recalls. Their toy box looks so empty now, i'd say I threw away probably 95% of their toys. I am ordering lots more safe toys.

| I have taken everything made in China away and have them in a large plastic storage box. The only thing left out that is made in China is Alyssa's lime green knobbie. She loves it and I do not have the heart to take it away. I am going to run it through the dishwasher. She has played with it so much that she already has whatever was bad on it. The girls have only Nylabones, nylabones on ropes for tug of war, and I did find a toy that I am assuming is American. It is a soft bite floppy disc and has a US patent applied label on it. I am letting them play with it. I also have a yellow football for Alyssa which did not have the word China anywhere on it. Everything else is put away. I tried getting both girls to play with some of the toys that they have left. Nothing attracts them. They are still trying to steal their toys back from the China box. It has been so hard for Alyssa because she is the one who likes the latex squeaky toys. (the louder the better). She does not understand and looks at me like I am doing something awful. We have all of the squeaky toys from WM...green monster, yellow monster, yellow dino, purple monster...she loves them all. They were so cheap...I should have known something was wrong.

| No! I didn't see that! I have to go look. Gizmo is playing with one of my shoes right now....I wonder if it was made in China? (How far will this go I wonder?)

| Thanks for that head's up! We ordered two of those toys...the bowser wowser ball and the tiny tuff reindeer. Luckily two of the items are still okay. I will send those two I mentioned back for exchange.

| I've taken them away but I have not thrown them away. They are in a bag in the closet. All the toys that were in their toy box were toys that they've had for months so if there was anything wrong with them, they've already licked and played with them. I want to see what happens with all of this recall nonsense because that article only mentioned specific toys from walmart that had toxic levels of lead and metals--not ALL toys made in China. I don't want to risk the babies' health so I'm going to see what happens. Who knows--this may create a domino effect, as it did with all of the food recalls--but it may not. I'm curious to see what happens. I hope I don't offend anyone in saying this but I personally think that we, as Americans, should start boycotting things made in China and other places where there are no regulations in how things are manufactured. It's not just in the pet industry--children's toys, cribs, etc. are also being recalled. THIS IS CRAZY! I personally would rather pay more for something made in the USA or from somewhere where I know the regulations are more strict. At least I would have the peace of mind knowing that whatever I'm using is not killing me or any of my family members

| I agree! While I am not officially boycotting all products made in China, I definitely LOOK at where items are made before I choose what to purchase now. I am willing to pay more now for a product made out of 100% USA made materials.

| Sam only has one or two latex toys and those are history. He killed his fave squeaky latex (from his SB GE) about a month ago on his own. The rest of his toys are plush. I hope they are ok.

| Beleive it or not the regulations for testing products in the UK are far stricter than even those in the US. As of yet we have not had any recalls for any pet food or toys here. |

| Thanks for that info! Can you tell us names of companies in the UK who sell toys here?

What I mean is even the the exact same brands of pet food that were recalled in america were not recalled here because all of the food and the ingredients going in it are tested throurally on arriving in the country and it goes back if it doesn't pass. It seems like they get away with importing dodgy stuff into the US. Hopefully the recall has made the big companies much more aware. | |

Your earlier post just made me realize how narrow-minded I was being regarding imported goods. I shouldn't say that I will ONLY buy items made in the US because many other countries have wonderful reputations and much stricter guidelines and testing than we do right now.
