| Sticking fingers down the throat is definately no fun. I would like to crush the pill but that isn't allowed with this one.

| can you not give it in just a tiny bit of cheese? Thats what I do to maggie. I take just enough cheese and put the pill in it and roll it around until its soft and i can make a little ball of cheese about the size if the tip of my pinkie finger or little bigger, just enough to hide the pill and soon as she bites it she swallows and down it goes. she loves cheese.

| I don't think so. It says give one hour before eating. I put it in her mouth and tried massaging her throat this morning. I didn't get it far enough back and she held it in her cheek until I opened her mouth. I repeated the process and it did work but I found that I had to put it so far back that my finger was still in her throat. I guess I will try syringing water in tomorrow.

| Katy has to take a pill every day for her bladder problem. We mash it is a teaspoon of water like PANAMA69. Katy actually is ok with this. We are careful not to tilt her head up and just place the liquid on her tongue. We have been doing it for so long, I just say "its time for your pill" she comes to the kitchen and waits while get it fixed. |

| Crockpot No problem with taking pills, when you have a CROCKPOT! Chelsea takes one in AM and one at PM for a bladder problem. We tell her its pill time, and she runs where its kept, and sits. Sorry, I cant be of more help. With my poodles, I would roll in cheese or turkey, since they were more picky about what they ate. GOTTA say, a CROCKPOT is handy. Good luck,

Yeah but I bet that is PPA. I also give Loki PPA like a treat. The vet said it is specially formulated to taste like meat.

| My Maddie is impossible to give a pill to! Even my vet and another one couldn't get a pill down her. I normally hide the pill in a piece of food, but once she had to have her meds on an empty stomach and I drove myself crazy trying to get her to take it. Finally came up with the perfect solution. I take a couple of spoons...put the pill in one spoon and the other over that spoon. I then rub the spoons back and forth, crushing the pill and then just open Maddie's mouth and dump it in. Because it's finely crushed, she can't spit it out. Works great for us...hope it helps you!

| I know how frustrating it can be to give this pill. Like I said, it was impossible with Miko at first, but he got used to it. It's nothing to get him to take a pill anymore. It will get easier The thing about Denosyl is (like you said) that it can't be crushed or given with food, otherwise, its as good as not giving the pill at all.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the pill gun works great if you can't always get your fingers in their throat far enough and you don't have to worry about them accidentally biting your fingers. I use this on aggressive cats and little dogs at work. then give a few cc's of water with a syringe to help it go down.

| Thanks for sharing kalina82! Thankfully, it's not a hassle to get Miko to take his pills everyday anymore, but that thing must make it easier to get them to take pills at a vet's office. Peanut butter is not recommended for liver compromised dogs. It's high in protein and high in fat, both hard on their livers. Coating it with a very small amount of olive oil or unrefined virgin coconut oil might be okay, but honestly I'm not sure. I do know that you can't give it with food. You might ask on the liver shunt group and see if anyone has any suggestions.
