| Leaving babies at home when you travel... Well, I am curious about what other yorkie owners do when you need to leave them home for a few days when they can't travel with you. I had a friend watch them for a few days, but that was a disaster - she couldn't sleep at night, she didn't like having them in bed with her, my male pee peed in several places in her house, and her husband is not a dog person. She ended up bringing them back to my house and visiting/walking them twice a day. This breaks my heart, as this was the first time in the over two years that we left them behind. We have to leave for a few days next week and can't take them with us. Don't want to board them. Don't have children to stay and watch them. We have asked a neighbor to check on them and walk them, but it's not the same as having someone around to love them. What do the rest of you do??????? |

| My mom watches them. They both love going there and she loves having them. I vacation 3-4 times a year so they go there pretty often. It's a bit of a hassle (because she lives 4 hours away), but it's worth it for piece of mind. |

| In the over 1 year that we had Pepper we always took him with us but one time when we took our anniversary trip - he was boarded and I didn't have good experience with it. We don't go on vacation if we can't take him, but I know one day we will plan a trip again and I'll have a tough cookie with it... I won't leave him in a daycare anymore but I have no family in the US either. Maybe finding a paid sitter that will only take your dog for that time would be better

| My parents normally keep Sadie, but I'm going on a trip next week where I can't take her with me. So my fellow YTers Shana & Rockster's Mom are sharing babysitting duty! I love those guys...they're the best!!! (and I know she's going to come back to me even more spoiled than she already is!)

Therapy Dog Donating Member | We're in the same boat now with taking vacs with Izzy (we always go to B&B's and now we have to find B&Bs that are pet friendly so in October she's going with us on her first mini-vac!!). But I know there will be times when we can't take her (like when we go to Vegas, etc.). She will have to be boarded at our vets but they are great there. This is a time I wish some of my fellow YTers lived closer...we could have our own built-in furbaby sitting service.

| I have my kids watch them if I have to go out of town, which isn't very often.

| My mom always comes to stay with them at our house. I want to make sure they are taken care of the same way we do and get lots of attention!

| I left Momiji at her daycare last time. I don't know if she enjoyed or not.... I definitely prefer other yorkie lover to look after her but something it is difficult. If I'm close by, I'll definitely look after your baby. My Momiji loves a company so it will be fun for her. I left Momiji one time with other YT member and she LOVED it!!! She was so well taken care of, it was better than she was at home with me!!! YT member was so nice, her and her husband loved my baby!!!! So if it is weekday, I can help you but weekend I can't since I may be out of town and have to leave my baby at daycare for the weekend again.... Good luck!!! |

| We have a pet sitter come and stay at the house with them. I met her through my vet where she works. We are going on a trip at the end of the month and unfortunately she was already booked. We are having a friend's step daughter come and stay with them and I am a nervous wreck. I think they'd have a breakdown if I kenneled them though.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I left lulu with my parents when we went to disney. I would suggest maybe seeing if one of our fellow YTers would babysit for you or maybe pay for a licensed and bonded petsitter to come in and take care of them.

| We left lacey and all the rest of the dogs home in aug for 4 days and when i got back lacey was a total cling on for a while. but i knew they were all taken care of well by my son and friend, although in oct we are going to the keys and this time i dont want to leave her, i really wish we would have booked flights and hotels that took dogs grrr. we are doing the same thing as last time, my son is home all day with the dogs and friend (who has laceys sister) is taking her at night.

| Why don't you see if there are any fellow YT'ers in your area that would be willing to watch them while you are gone? Or maybe someone willing to come over and spend a few hours in the day and evening with them? This is such a great support network, and I'd trust my dogs with MANY people on this site.
