We're in the same boat now with taking vacs with Izzy (we always go to B&B's and now we have to find B&Bs that are pet friendly so in October she's going with us on her first mini-vac!!).
But I know there will be times when we can't take her (like when we go to Vegas, etc.). She will have to be boarded at our vets but they are great there.
This is a time I wish some of my fellow YTers lived closer...we could have our own built-in furbaby sitting service.
