| Please help- strange behaviors since picking up from boarding! I am hoping that someone out there can give me some guidance! My husband and I went away this weekend and put our 2 yr. old Yorkie in boarding for two nights. Ever since picking him up, he has been doing things he has never done before, such as peeing/pooping in the house (even after he was brought out for his walk) and excessive whining. When we first brought him home his stools were wet, so we took his food away (what a vet had suggested) until he gets it out of his system. I am assuming that the place gave him wet food after I told them not to. It has been two days, and we thought things would be back to normal. But, after a half hour walk this morning, he still came back in the house and took a poop on our dining room floor. We don't know if this is something he can't control (his stool is still not back to normal) or if he is being spiteful. Please share any advice you have! |

| he musta had a horrible time at that place.... wow I feel for you and your dog. Sounds like he is feeling insecure about you leaving him again with the whining. but I would love to read what others will have to say. |

| Good Morning, It does sound like the boarding facility gave your Yorkie something that he isn't used to. The whining comes from hearing other dogs do it. The peeing and pooping might also be from that unless he really can't hold it. He isn't spiteful though. Dogs don't have that emotion. If you took away his food are you giving him something like Nutrical? You could also boil some chicken and mix it with rice for a few days until he feels better.

| It is possible that he picked up a virus of some kind while there. The loose stools might also suggest something like Giardia. I would take a stool sample in and have it checked out and let them know his stools have been runny since you picked him up. They should have records to show if this was the case while he was there as well. If he did in fact pick up a virus or Giardia while there, they should only charge you for the meds, not the visit. If his tummy is hurting, that could be why he is whining or he just might think you're going to leave him again. Sure hope he returns to his normal self soon. P.S. Welcome to YT!

| He might be acting out, because he was upset at the boarders. If it doesn't get any better I'd take him to the vet just to be safe.

| i dont have any advice but just wondering on that spiteful thing because i know that little girl my yorkie pom CAN be spiteful... when she was an "only" child, if i didnt take her somewhere or i fussed at her for one thing or another she would delibrately pee on my side of the bed or my side of the sofa...as soon as i fussed at her and turn my back, she would go tinkle tinkle on my clean bed. and she didnt do unless she got in trouble with me... i also had a cat for like 5 minutes, i got her at a bad time in my life i was like 18, anyways i had met husband and would leave for the weekend with him, come home and she would have sprayed everything in my room, because i wasnt there..she had a littler box and she knew how to use it. she was a mean purdy cat |

| lacey did the same thing to us we left her home with my son and my friend checked in on them also, so i know they were taken care of extremely well. but when we got back after 3 days of vaca. she started to poop and pee and was a total cling on to me, and she had loose stools for 2 days after we got back. it took her 3 weeks to figure out that mommy isnt going to leave her again and now she is better. still a bit clingy though. now i am freaking out because we are going to the keys in oct and leaving her home again, i dont want to tramatise her all over but its our annv trip so i dont want to not go ether lol. i know i will be crying when i leave this time knowing how hard she took it last time we left her. hubby said not to worry that was the fist time i have ever been away from her and thinks this time she will know that my son and the other dogs will be there for her.

| Tammy8833, the only reason I say that spite is not an emotion for a dog is because I have heard dog trainers say it. I am not sure if I totally agree or not. I do know that I used to think Ellie was being spiteful but come to find out it is separation anxiety.

| Perhaps he picked up a parasite while there. I boarded Buddy once and he picked up one that caused him problems. I can't prove it but I know that is where he got it. Hope you little one feels better soon. |

| so far, so good... Despite his pooping in the house this morning AFTER his 30 min walk, he seems like he is starting back to normal. He has cut down on the whining, and is seeming more relaxed. As soon as his stools seem back to normal, I will feel better. I think if they aren't back to normal by tomorrow, I will bring him to the vet. |
