It is possible that he picked up a virus of some kind while there. The loose stools might also suggest something like Giardia. I would take a stool sample in and have it checked out and let them know his stools have been runny since you picked him up. They should have records to show if this was the case while he was there as well.
If he did in fact pick up a virus or Giardia while there, they should only charge you for the meds, not the visit.
If his tummy is hurting, that could be why he is whining or he just might think you're going to leave him again. Sure hope he returns to his normal self soon.
