Oh my goodness...will you look at that!!! Unreal...
But yes, I think those kittens are old enough to eat on their own, but the look on your Yorkies face is saying "I'm a proud momma"!!! What's her name?

That picture is too cute. I have a picture posted on our Yorkie brothers and sisters forum with My boxer who became a mother to a kitten. and I have also had a pekenese that did the same thing.
The kittens look old enough to eat on their own, so I would go ahead and start feeding them that way they dont start making your females titts bleed. they should have teeth now, so im sure it will get painfull for her. but yeah I would let her go ahead and love on them.

they look to be right at three weeks. IMO I would keep them on the goats milk and cat food, they should be easy to litter box train now too. I don't think it would hurt if they sucked now and then. pm me if you need any help

Oh my goodness, she is so proud! They are now laying in her bed and she's sitting beside it making sure no one disturbs them. It is so cute to see how great of a mother she is...not that she's going to have her own babies!

Her name is Daisy Mae.

Thank you all so much! I truly appreciate all the responses!

I have some soft dog food (not used to having cats around) that I put out for them and I'll have to run to town tomorrow morning to get some goat's milk. As much as she is loving this I think I would rather get them going on their own. Maybe that's the reason that their 'real' mama hasn't been around...who knows?

That's an adorable picture. I had a kitten about two weeks old just appear in our yard one morning. The house next to us was being renevated and apparantly there had been kittens in there. I'm not sure what happened to them. I'm saddened to think that the company working on the house got rid of them, but after finding this little on in our yard we scouted and could not find them anywhere.

We brought the little guy in and cleaned him (he had been infested with fleas) and we had to bottle feed him for about six week or so. We used kitten formulat that we bought at the petstore.

Bella, our Yorkie thought he as her baby. She would clean him and lay next to his bed at night and put her teeth up at my other Yorkies if they would ever attempt to go near him.

In the end we found him a great home with a woman who had just lost her 17 yr. old house cat.

I hope you are able to find them all good homes so that they aren't on their own again. They look old enough to eat on their own. You could buy some soft kitten food. I would stay away from the milk though b.c. I don't think dairy is good for cats. My vet said that it's an old wives tale about feeding milk to cats. He said stay with fresh water and kitten chow. If you want to feed them milk to supplement them, try the kitten formula and just pour it into a little dish for them.

Best of luck
Elaine

It's COMPLETELY FINE and bravo for you taking them in!

You'll want to wean them onto a quality kitten/cat kibble starting around 4-5 weeks though.

I'd use dry kibble (hard food) and add just enough HOT water to it until it starts to float. Let it sit for about 10 minutes (the kibble will be soft at that point and the water room temperature) so that it's soft and voila. Instant gruel and they'll also get their intake of water that they need.

I really have a stigma against moist cat food. It's hard to find a healthy balanced one and so I'd just do the above.

Feel free to contact me any time if you have issues w/ your kitties! While I am a dog trainer by profession, I have a weak spot for the kitties! *sshhh*

Rose Yorkie nursing kittens

Well, a few days ago we found five kittens in a field near our house. We watched them and my boys played with them, etc. Everytime we went to see them they always seemed hungry and I finally started really paying attention and I haven't seen a mom around in days so we brought them in and gave them some milk...they were starved.
Well, my female yorkie who produced milk from her false pregnancy is this very moment nursing the kittens. Is that ok?
Since she first saw the kittens she has been extremely antsy and keeping a close eye on them, etc and all of a sudden she just snuggled up to them, cleaned their bums and completely calmed them down and, like I said, is now nursing them.
I'm not sure if I should be allowing her to do so or not?
I am anxiously waiting to hear anyone's responses to this!
TIA

Coral
When I was a kid, we always had dogs and cats and puppies and kittens. I've seen kittens nursing a mama dog and puppies nursing a mama cat many times and they all seemed to get along just fine with it. The puppies and kittens would sleep all piled up together in a heap and played together and acted like siblings. Sounds like these kittens are eating and won't need a mama much longer. What a sweet little Yorkie that loves them and wants to mother them. Bless her little heart!
