Well, a few days ago we found five kittens in a field near our house. We watched them and my boys played with them, etc. Everytime we went to see them they always seemed hungry and I finally started really paying attention and I haven't seen a mom around in days so we brought them in and gave them some milk...they were starved.
Well, my female yorkie who produced milk from her false pregnancy is this very moment nursing the kittens. Is that ok?
Since she first saw the kittens she has been extremely antsy and keeping a close eye on them, etc and all of a sudden she just snuggled up to them, cleaned their bums and completely calmed them down and, like I said, is now nursing them.
I'm not sure if I should be allowing her to do so or not?
I am anxiously waiting to hear anyone's responses to this!
TIA

When I was a kid, we always had dogs and cats and puppies and kittens. I've seen kittens nursing a mama dog and puppies nursing a mama cat many times and they all seemed to get along just fine with it. The puppies and kittens would sleep all piled up together in a heap and played together and acted like siblings. Sounds like these kittens are eating and won't need a mama much longer. What a sweet little Yorkie that loves them and wants to mother them. Bless her little heart!
