| ![]() From the phone calls I get AFTER someone purchased a puppy somewhere, not all breeders provide what should be provided and without something in writing the buyer has no recourse. Hopefully, any prospective puppy buyers on this forum will know what to ask for and expect before they purchase by reading our posts.
Lorraine, My assumption to thinking it was something all breeders provide is because as a member YTCA it is mandated in our Code of Conduct/Ethics...I've never read your Canadian Club's Ethics, but I'm sure it is the same. Mar
I have been a member of the breed club in Wa state for several years now, only joined the Canadian one recently. HOwever, even before I joined these clubs, I felt I knew what should be provided to a buyer before I read any Code of Ethics of any Club. When I read them, I found mine met or surpassed breed club Code of ethics. Ethics come from the heart and soul, not only from the mandate of a Club. When I initially started out or tried to rather, I was in the clutches of byb's. Their ethics drove me away from them as their first words were that they make money off their dogs and this is a business for them and it can be for me too. I couldn't see making money off of little 5 lbs dogs or any dogs for that matter as if they were livestock. That repugnancy I felt came from my heart and soul, not from anything I was taught. I got away from them and found the right people. | |

| ![]() Yes, you can contact AKC. You will need to atleast know the sire and dams names. Your breeder should provide you with their numbers since there must have been some complication in getting the litter registered. The papers should have been given to you the day you picked the pup up. In Pennsylvania, it is against the law to withold AKC papers until proof of spaying or neutering. Things do happen sometimes that the papers don't come in on time....one little mistake. HOWEVER, I was PROMISED papers once.....NEVER did get them and NEVER could. Why was it the papers weren't available? If I missed it, I appologize. I'd really like to know. I never charge a fee for the papers. Last edited by Julz; 09-04-2007 at 08:29 AM. |

| ![]() Well I called AKC and they have no record of her registering any litters this year..And I have been trying to get the papers but she has not responded to my calls or emails..and last but not least, my husband is a police officer so I know that showing up at someones doorstep demanding something is not a smart thing to do and can lead to an arrest for anything that she wanted to make up. In tennessee, if she says that she told me to leave and I didn't when in fact I really did, then she could take out a warrant on me for trespassing just by her telling that lie.. You have to be real careful here in the south.. |
