HELP!! Joey is in ICU - accident :(
 
Oh my god - my fiance and I are so upset. Last night my fiance was playing with Joey (our 12 week Yorkie whom we've had for 4 days) and Joey was running behind him. Joey ran between my fiance's legs and my fiance tripped and steppedl on him. Joey didn't make a sound, but immedietely went limp. He was barely breathing. We rushed to the animal hospital, where we waited for three hours. Joey is stable on oxygen, but he has pulmonary lung contusions and some swelling in his brain. The vet is saying that Joey needs time - it is hard to tell whether he is going to pull through this or not. He says that dogs have pulled through this in the past, but of course there are dogs that haven't.

We feel like we have our mother or father in ICU right now - we are just grieving so hard and don't know what to do. All we do is wait for the next phone call from the vet. We may have to put him to sleep, but it is just too early to tell - has anyone gone through this??? Do you know of any positive incidents where the puppy pulled through and survived? We just really need support and optimism right now.

I am so sorry for you and what you are going thru. I really don't have any advise or know of any incidents, but I will say a little prayer for you and your baby! Luigi sends him puppy love! I hope he pulls thru this!!!

I have not gone through this..but my bf and I have stomped on Maximus many time (accidentally)..due to him being so small and wanting to run wherever we walk..we have felt bad everytime and luckily it has never been serious...I want to send my prayers out to you as well as Maximus'...we hope your little boy pulls through..these guys are tougher then they look..please let us know how it goes

I am so sorry this happened! I know you are both devistated ... accidents happen with these little ones. I don't have any experience with this but just know that we are all here for you and we will certainly keep little Joey and you both in our prayers! Please keep us updated.

I don't have any experience with this type of accident, but I have had experience with the emergency vets. Know that they are very talented and dedicated and they will do absolutly everything possible. Your baby is getting as good of care as a human would in ICU. Yorkies are tough little fighters, so think positive! You are in our prayers. Please keep us updated.

I am so sorry this happened,I cannot imagine what you are going thru right now but accidents do happen, this same thing happened to my friends puppy years ago, she just stepped backwards on top of her. They are so quick to get underfoot.
I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way that Joey will pull thru. They are amazingly resilient these little yorkies.

You all are in my prayers. I always say a special prayer to St. Francis when I hear or see anything bad regarding animals. He is the patron Saint of animals.

Whether or not you believe: ask for the life, health, healing, and protection of your little Joey. Invision him healthy, happy, loved, and playing. Keep that image in your mind and heart. This prayer/meditation has always worked for me.

I am saying it now.

PS. I have heard that it is helpful to send "blue light" to the places where one needs healing. Try it. Heck, let's all send blue healing energy to Joey.

Oh, poor little thing and poor mommy and daddy! No matter how careful we are accidents happen. All of us here share in your pain and feel concern for Joey - please remember you are not alone and prayers are going up!

How dreadful for you - this is everyone's dread.... the little ones haven't yet learnt to move out of the way. I really hope he will be ok, if the vet said he needed time then maybe he will be ok? I DO hope so, hugs to him and to you too. Ana xx :aimeeyork

It really helps to know that you are all keeping Joey in your prayers. We are praying so hard for him - and hope so much that the little guy will pull through this and be our little strong boy. We miss him so much - it's amazing how attached we became to him in just 4 days - he is our little baby. I just can't believe this happened - it is such a nightmare.

The vet keeps saying that time will tell if Joey is going to recover. Unfortunately, time is going by so slowly for us...each minute ticks by so slowly. I just want him to get better.

Trying to remain positive...

Accidents do happen with these little guys, but you'd be amazed to know how strong they can be. We'll be praying that he pulls through this.

Everyone is right...accidents happen. I know I have had plenty with Dolce. I hope ur fiancee knows it is not his fault and doesnt blame himself. I am saying a prayer for ur little one...they are very strong these babies. Just stay positive. Dolce sends Joey a HUGE puppy kiss for him to get better!!

I'm praying for little Joey and sending the healing blue light. I have a tiny one too and am worried the same thing could happen to her. Keep positive, yorkies are alot stronger then one would think.

I am SOOOOO sorry to hear of this accident, and thats what it was, AN ACCIDENT. My prayers are for you, your fiance, and little Joey. Keep the faith, and believe in miracles. I hope St. Frances, hears our prayers!

Bless Joey's heart. You did the right thing by rushing him to the hospital. He is getting the best possible treatment now. Keep us posted.

Prayers and good thoughts are coming to you from me and coco. Accidents happen so easily with these little ones. My boyfriend almost tripped and stepped on Coco once. He tripped and I acted fast and shoved him really hard, to where he fell somewhere else and not on Coco. It's amazing how accidental but strong these little ones are. Needless to say my boyfriend was impressed with my strength (momma protection strength. My thoughts are with joey, and don't worry they are really strong. :)
