So glad to hear Joey is doing better. Accidents like this just make me want to hold my baby tighter. Can't wait to hear how he is when you see him today. Julie |
I support a Bichon rescue and the founder of the rescue is a very religious person. Many miracles have occued thru prayer and she has a saying "PRAISE GOD IN THE MORNING!" when one occurs. So that is what I am saying for all of you who are suffering because your baby is sick. Prayers are coming your ways from us that those babies will be well enough to come back to your arms soon. |
Sorry to hear what your going threw. I have been away but want you to know my prayers are with you. |
Johnsae, your question about brain damage and your vet's reply just gave me a blast from the past! When I was 18, my boyfriend had an Irish Setter puppy, who, what was his name...oh, Shawn. We both adored him. We were setting up for a graduation party at the lake and someone was chopping wood. Shawn ran under the log just as it fell and it fell on his head!! It just scared us to death! Well, we just watched him really closely for the next several hours and it certainly took the wind out of his sails but he seemed to not have any serious things goin on. But as Shawn grew into a beautiful adult setter, he always had this endearing tilt of his head. Nothing wierd looking just a little "off". And we loved him all the more because of it. They are pretty tough. I'm still praying your little guy will pull through all this. |
Oh, Bless your sweet hearts! I, like everyone else on the list, am thinking about you all and will say a prayer for your sweet baby. |

Oh wow, this is the first time I got a chance to read this post. I am so glad Joey's feeling better. I hope he continues to improve. And he'll certainly respond to your visits. I had a cat that got hit by a car and stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. I went every day to visit him. Even hurting he would rub me, meow, and purr so I know he was glad to see me. Continued prayers and good wishes |
Oh! Oh! It sounds like he is responding well! I am so happy for you that you can hold him tonight! Poor Poor little guy! He's had a tough time for as young as he is. Sounds like he is coming along good, though. Poor Little Tyke! My sister's little 3# Maltese, was dropped by one of the kids and her back legs were paralized, but she got around real well. She would drag her body, and when they took her out to go potty, they held her up until she could go. So, things can be bad, but still be okay! Lots of luck and prayers! Keep us posted! Pat |

I'm soo sorry about this whole thing. I hope everything turns out ok, and keep us updated |
Update 6.21 - 6:30 PM I saw Joey tonight. He is very lethargic, but the vet says that is b/c he is on painkillers. :( He didn't really respond to me, but I know in my heart that he knew I was there. He is not eating, so I brought a bunch of food (including roast beef, his fav), but he still did not eat. So, after I left the vet said they were going to put a tube down his nose - she was afraid he might go into a hypoclycemic (sp?) seizure if he doesn't get nutrients soon. He didn't look good tonight, but I'm hoping it's because of the painkillers. The good news is that he is breathing on his own - without an oxygen tank. He is out of the incubator and into a regular cage. But, he is still having some problems breathing (because of the lung contusions), and his breathing is very raspy. Overtime this should heal. I wasn't able to hold him, but I gave him lots of kisses and hugs. Hopefully I will be able to hold him tomorrow night. I am being impatient, but I just wish time would go by quicker - he is still a little traumatized, and I don't know how long it is going to take him to heal. Please keep praying for Joey - he needs all the help he can get. |
I sincerily hope your little one recovers. Keep everyone posted. |
I am so glad you got to see your baby. I am sorry he is not eating. I am not an expert but I have heard that tube feeding is risky with a yorkie puppy because of their fragile tracheas. Can't they syringe feed him? I know it is harder for them but, imho, it would be so much better for your baby. Please talk to a yorkie vet about your concerns about tube feeding such a small breed dog with a tendency for trachea problems. At the very least make sure they use the tiniest oossible tube. I will continue to keep you and Joey in my thoughts. |
OH I am glad you got to see him and even though he couldn't show it, inside I bet he was soo excited to hear your voice! We will keep praying for him BIG HUGS AND KISSES to Joey from Bella |
Just want you to know that your Joey is in my prayers and thoughts. I pray he gets better soon. :girl_hug: |
Thanx for your update. I am glad the vet is getting ready to tube feed him. I cannot tell you how many babies have been saved by their breeders tube-feeding them. Most long-time breeders have had to save a litter because of the mother's inability to feed them properly...Just keep having faith even though it is so hard to see your baby and not be able to help him. He is where he needs to be right now and more prayers are being sent your way..Bless all of you. |
Joey is in my prayers. Get well soon |

This breaks my heart and makes me so happy for you at the same time. Romeo sits with me as I say a prayer in the evenings for you and your little one. |
I am so glad you were able to visit and touch little Joey, even though you couldn't hold him! Perhaps tomorrow! Meantime, sounds like you have some excellent vets and I am certain that he will continue to improve with their care. We will keep you all in our prayers and wait for more good news! ;) |

Hi Alicia and Joey! I just read through this and I am so sorry! I will pray extra hard to make up for the days I missed! We all send you and Joey tons of love, thoughts, wishes, prayers, and encouragement! Kimberly, Simon and Hallie |
I am sure this is so hard for you....it does sound like little Joey is getting a little better each day. Soon enough he will be home in your arms. Tini and I are saying lots of prayers that he will be home very soon. Love and Hugs! |
I just logged on a read this thread. Joey seems like one tough pup. I am so happy that he is doing better. My thoughts and prayers are being sent Joey's way. |
I keep checking on this thread to see your updates. I too am getting impatient. I want him to get well and be able to go home. I know how awful being at the vet is and how awful it is to be away from your pet. I will continue to pray for him. |
Thank you again everyone. Jeremy (Joey's Daddy) and I will hopefully get to hold him today. He has a feeding tube down his nose, so I am waiting to hear how that is going. I hope he is taking to it ok - the doctors were very concerned that he wasn't eating, so the fact that he is getting some nutrition (even if it is through a feeding tube) makes me happy. I'll write in a few hours with updates. |
It's awesome he's made it this far and a good sign I hope ? I check in on your baby every few hours - I really am pulling for him as is everyone here - Good luck ! |
