![]() I don't have any medical advice, but I do have a prayer that I have posted for two other sick and injured Yorkies. Here is a prayer to St. Francis of Assisi, the lover of all creation, patron saint of animals and the environment, and the founder of the Franciscan Order. It is supposed to be said for 9 consecutive days. PRAYER FOR OUR ANIMAL FRIENDS (To make a Novena for a sick pet, say this prayer for 9 consecutive days) Heavenly Father, the bond we have with our friends of other species is a wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. They trust in us as we trust in You. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. Our souls and theirs are on this earth together to share friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and bless these ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have: (Here mention the names of the animals needing prayer) Maximus the Yorkie Your goodness is turned upon every living thing; Your grace flows to all Your creatures; Your Light touches each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant long and healthy lives to our special animal companions. Bless their relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures. Empower him to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in honoring You forever. Amen.

![]() Well, i think that she should take him to the vet immediately. It is true about the insurance, they will not cover pre-existing conditions. However, I had over $3000 in vet bills, and none of the vets here in California will give you a payment plan. The vet I rushed Benni to with his overdose insisted on a $500 upfront deposit before they would treat him and I had to pay the balance upon his release. Almost $2000 to come up with in 5 days. Thank god for overdraft and a second job that has helped me catch up on my other bills and this was in February. But whatever it took, I would take him. It sounds like something serious. Especially with the bulge in his tummy. And the SPCA here in OC will not handle emergency calls with your pet. They will refer you to the very same vet that I took Benni to.

![]() I am sorry, I just noticed that you are in California. Unfortunately, most of the vets that I have dealt with here, are just money money money. I actually had one vet when I took a critically ill pup to him, take one look at the pup, pulled out his adding machine right in front of me and say, before I do anything it is $350 up front and how are you paying? I kid you not! Needless to say I have never been back.

![]() There is a doctor in Newport Hills Animal Hospital who is absolutely wonderful, he specializes in toy dogs and is very familar with their health issues. His name is Dr. Whitaker and he is at the above hospital. This was the most caring vet I have found out here. He really cares about the pup, he is a bit expensive, but I think that if you called him he would at least give you some advice.

| ![]() I am so sorry to hear about your baby! Believe me mine is in the hospital right now because of problems with poop as well. I have no advice to give you except I know what you are going through and with the great people that we have on here, hopefully they will be fine.

![]() Regardless of the insurance ( I have come to the conclusion that pet insurance is not really worth it in the long run) you need to take him to the vet because it sounds like he needs medical attention. The symptoms you mentioned are not normal and as a pet owner it is your responsibility to make sure he is cared for. I know you want what is best for him. I hope it is nothing serious and that whatever the treatment is it is not expensive.
