| In case your flying Well i live in NY and back at the end of June i traveled to North Carolina with my fur baby to visit my friend. Our flight was at 12pm in the afternoon so i fed him in the morning around 6am and let him drink his water and then that was it i didnt feed him after that till we go to NC. On the flight he was good i gave him a few kibbles of food but not to much and little bit of water. When we went to pick up our luggage i put a wee wee pad on the floor and he peed like there was no tomorrow he is a very calm pup on a regular so the flight he was good he slept most of it since it was not that long of a flight. That would be the only thing i suggest is withholding food and water for about 3-4 hrs before the flight you dont want your puppy going pee or potty in his carrier. Let me know if you have any other questions

| I read your post over a couple of times and you didn't say if you were flying or going by car. We have never flown with ours but have done a lot of car trips with them.

| thanks so much we are not flying we are driveing and some one said to get calm moments from pet smart and see how he does with that and i am not going to feed him much while we drive i dont want him to throw up at all and i dont want him to be scared we havel travled to the park on the other side of town and he does fine he wants me to hold him though he dont like to be put down so i thought i would bring his puppy bed and that might make him more comforable. and some chew bones. I am so nervous...I am going to bring puppy pads puppy bed puppy food puppy bowls puppy toys and bones towels in case of accidents and the leash to walk at the rest stop do u think i am missing anything

| I also agree with not feeding him before you fly. When I fly from Germany to the States that is what I do. If your pup is normally hyper or gets really nervous with things you might want to give him a little bit of benadryl 30 minutes before the flight. This will help make him a little sleepy and be more relaxed. That's what I do with Bella because with connections our flying time is around 12 hours and it can be very stressful. If yours is a really short flight it probably won't be necessary. If you have any other questions I'll try to help if I can! |

| My list of things includes all that and more..........lol. I always carry pics of them in the car with name and age and my personal information. I also carry a copy of their rabbies paperwork. A gallon of water to wash their feet if they get soiled (you just never know where "THEY" want to stop to go). I always take their potty reward treats. Poopy pick up bags. A blanket was just recently added as a suggestion by another member in case of an accident to cuddle them in. Brushes to groom with (I bought extra just for travel). Drinking water for them. And I carry baby wipes and those cheap plastic gloves for a perhaps not so pleasant situation. lol Have a great trip!!!

| Please get him used to a crate before you travel in a car. We were in a head on collision a few years ago and if I would have had Boog on my lap the air bag would have killed him...luckily I had just put him down in his bed behind my seat. I learned from that and now when we travel the boyz are in their crates in the back seat. I know it's hard when you hear them whining but please...for his safety...travel with him in a crate. |

| Hi, we're in Columbia, SC. We travel with the kids quite a bit. At the beginning Maggie would get car sick, so we use Rescue Remedy to calm her. The wet wipes are a life saver. The rest areas are really dirty so the kids get wiped everytime they go out. Harnesses are better than collars. When you stop at rest areas, try to go at the edges opposite side of where other dogs go. My kids are very picky. Winston would rather not walk and go at rest areas, for a couple of trips up to New Jersey he would hold 13-14 hours. Have a safe trip.

| Don't forget his id stuff like his collar tags. Some people keep them on all the time, some don't, so it sounds like a given, but when you're anxious about a trip, anything can be forgotten! I always take Max's vet records with me too with large photos of him, just in case.

| Most of them love to travel in the car with you. They'll sleep most of the time.

| When we took our road trip with the girls I also packed the X-pen with us. It was great at rest aras and at fast food places so the girls could stretch their legs. Neither of them likes to potty while on a leash and we use the X-pen in our yard. It allowed us to get comfortable while eating lunch/dinner (kind-of picnic style) near them rather than leaving them in the car. I use the Snoozer Lookout car seats. My girls simply love them and lay right down while traveling. We tried other options such as a carrier and different seats/straps and they hated them all, but from the first time in their Snoozer they were great!!! Have a fun trip and drive safely.

I agree. I know this is hard, really hard for so many of us to put our babies away in a crate or use what we call a tie down. Tie down......, You know in the dog car seats how they have the short leash that connects to their collars/harness. Please do this. If you decide to use a tie down I would recommend that you do it with a harness. If you are in an accident you wont have to worry about your furbaby being ejected from the vehicle. We do alot of traveling and Annie has always sat on my lap, or one of my girls lap, just like Phoebe always did. A little over 2 months ago I was on my way to meet a friend for coffee. I decided to leave Annie at home. Little did I know I was about to save her life! You see a young gal decided to run a very red, red light. She hit me with such an impact that her Dodge Intrepid, broke the frame of my Ford Explorer in 2 places. Had Annie been with me she would have been killed & possibly ejected from my vehicle. BTW the officer at the scene told me later had I not been in my Explorer she would have killed me! Just a thought......... We put our human babies in car seats and then as they grow we put them into seat belts to keep them safe. I know you will have a great time on your trip.
