Frontline, Advantix, or Revolution? Which is best.

I agree!!!! Every baby is different!!! Good post! And my vet did just what you said...Advantix for bad mosquitos in Florida. And at home in Michigan Revolution. He lets patient pick between Frontline or Revolution....If your dog is a pain to give pills too do Revolution that way no heart worm pill. Revolution is also cheaper in the long run because you dont have to buy Heartworm pills.

My vet put our girl on Revolution. He did say that it doesn't always work for ticks, including Korean ticks, but we aren't in an area that has a tick problem. So for the time being he wants her to use Revolution because of the heartworm preventative in it. And so far no issues.

I agree with the others, talk to the vet and see what works well for your dog and your area and go with that.

We have went to Frontline (although we haven't actually had to use it yet) which Ellie's vet recommends. I was reading about the serious side effects that could be associated with Advantix. The permethrin in it could be a carcinogen and it may have caused death in a few animals. Ellie's vet says Advantix can make your dog feel like there is something crawling on its skin.

All of the flea treatments can cause ill side effects...They are very strong medicines that are processed through the liver. Dogs may act differently with different flea meds. I try to stay as natural as possible.

I use Revolution. I have not found any fleas on Aubrey, but I have found ticks!!! 3 in the past 3 weeks, but the good thing was is they are not imbetted(?) in his skin. The best place I have fou nd if you do order Revolution is at Dr. Foster and Smith, becasue for a 6 month supply it cost me about 60 dollars, and one dose at the vet cost me 20. THe only thing for that is you have to have a prescription. Its also good because it not just for fleas, but also for Heatworm, etc. Good luck finding one that you like!

My vet has always recommended Revolution for Jake, and that's what we use. I haven't had any problems with fleas at all, and Jake has had no adverse reactions.

I split one Advantage between my Maltese & Yorkie (both under 5#) and haven't had any fleas on either of them so far. We do have super awful mosquitoes here and the guys go camping with us in the state parks.

I've never used chemicals on any of my dogs and they have never had fleas or ticks. If they are eating a healthy food source with some garlic thrown in, then that's part of the battle right there. The rest is useing a natural flea repellent you can make yourself.

Our vet recommended Sentinel for Gracie when she was a puppy. She's been on it for 5 1/2 years now with no trouble whatsoever--and not one flea, tick, etc.

I use Frontline Plus on all my animals, the only problem is that here in Alabama the fleas are so bad that we have to put it on them every three weeks, and still use the mink oil (which will kill fleas when you spray it on them) in between.

I have never heard of Mink Oil. How often can you spray that on them, where do you get it at?

I personally always liked frontline plus and will be buying some for Jasper! That is what my vet reccomends as well. Good luck! A friend of mine also told me about a new, less pricier 1 called bio sot,in petedge.com.

You can get the mink oil from petedge or jeffers. I use it when I brush Cody for any matts and tangles and if his skin gets dried out. It's not greasy and it smells great. I just read the bottle, it's a coat conditioner and has sunscreen in it too.
