| My poor Gus,,,,, It was so nice to meet everyone at the SoCalMeetup yesterday at the Huntington beach park bench cafe. I loved being around all those beautiful yorkies! Gus has a bit of a social problem and didn't want to mingle or play. He did a lot better then I thought and I'm hoping with a few more meetings,,, it just might bring him out of his shell. After lunch Lisa and Mat with adorable Sukoshi, Ronda with tiny cutiepie Teddi, and my daughter Val, Gus and I went for a walk on the beach. There was so many dogs all kinds of different breeds everywhere. It made me leary with all the big dog around but Gus was doing good with walking on his leach as long as he was next to me. A few waves caught him and scared him a little but he was just fine till,,, this black,, not sure what kind of breed came up to us, This dog was not very big,, mid built and looked to be somewhat of a puppy. Gus cowered to the ground and I was not comfortable with the situation so as I went down to pick Gus up thats when this dog went to snap at Gus. I tugged on the leach and I did hear a yelp. I wasnt quite sure if it was because he was scared or the other dog actually got ahold of Gus. I gave him a quick look over and didn't see anything but Gus was shaking and although he was wet I just felt it was more then just being cold so I looked him over once more and found a little scrap on his left side collar bone. Not so much a puncture. It look as if I pulled him away before the other dog got to bit down. The owner of the dog didnt say a word and I was so worried about Gus and making sure he was ok I didn't go up to them. The only thought that went through my head was,,, NOT AGAIN. It happened as we were leaving and I carried him the rest of the was off the beach. Once we got to the walkway I put him down to make sure he was able to walk and wasn't in any pain or anything. On the way home he was tired but seemed to be just fine. Of course I couldn't sleep and kept a flashlight next to me and would shine the light on him just to make sure he was ok. Poor Gus was probable thinking,,, Mom would you let me sleep already! This morning he is normal and running around and even playing with Bobbie. The wound is bruised around the scrap but it is already healing and has a scab. I am hoping that this ordeal is not a set back and make him even more fearful of other dogs besides Bobbie. I am very happy with this new group of wonderful people. It's what Gus really needs. I do have pictures but my husband was working on the pc and misplaced my USB cord. As soon as I find it I will share some photos with ya all.

| that happened to me and Ryo just ended up having bruises because of some quick thinking of my son. I made the owner of the other dog pay to get Ryo checked by a vet the next morning. the owner of the other dog said, " my dog only wanted to play with your dog and if u wouldn't have panicked he would not have bit him." I was appalled that he even said that. I told him dogs need to be introduced in a proper manor. You just dont let the leash go and let a huge german shepard go run to great an unsuspecting smaller dog. As you cn see iknow how feel. I am glad gus is ok |

| I'm so glad Gus is all right. I understand you wanting him to be more social, I feel the same way about my 2. They play together, but not with other dogs. I'm doing the same thing you are. My son has 2 small dogs and he brings them over so they can all play in my backyard. So far my 2 sit under my chair and wait for them to leave so they can play with each other.

| Gosh It's so scary when that kind of stuff happens. I get really wound up when there's big dogs around Dixie and she's 7lbs and she stands up for herself by barking and sometimes snapping if the other dog doesn't get the picture. Not like itty bitty Gus! She also has Dougal the Defender to watch her back too. May be you could hire Gus a couple of Teapot Yorkie Bodyguards!

| What a cutie!! Dougal doesn't roll over. Dougal seems to think "bigger they are -- harder they fall". I'm a little worried about that !! But Dixie sends kisses to Gus cos he's so darn cute!
